Candid Student Reports The following (emails) were written by members of the Scientific Programming class during the tenth session of the program. Some elements may have been removed for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words. Today we presented the projects we had been working on. My group was unable to finish most of what we were doing, because it took so long to get the algorithm worked out. We presented two different applets modeling the same thing (the motion of a charged particle in a magnetic field). One used a time stepping method, but we were unable to get the time step small enough to make the simulation realistic. The other one gave a more realistic model, but it was really an equation made to fit the predicted behavior of the particle. Daniel We watched presentations of models. We never finished our model completely Samuel Today our presentation was a pretty good sucess. We explained our applet, which showed the bounce effect rather inaccurately, but was still very progressive and helped me learn even more programming language. Robbie Today we showed our projects with the whole class. I saw a lot of interesting projects. We really liked the program that showed the path of the particle in a magnectic field. I liked this program. Carla I'm happy about the progress that my group made in completing our project, and I was supprised to see all the interesting subjects that people chose to do their projects on. Joshua Today was the last day of projects, and we managed to finish our project just in time. It came together quite nicely. Albert Today we finished up our projects (just in time) and presented them. We did gambling simulation of 2 different methods. Today was the most interesting and fun. Conrad Today we finished up our projects. We made ours in to an applet so that we could present it to the class. We also learned a lot from everyone else's presentation. I liked the class and want to learn more about programming in the future. Roshen
