Candid Student Reports The following (emails) were written by members of the Modeling Your World class during the second session of the program. Some elements may have been removed for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.
Today we made working models of how life works. We used a simulation to
play life and made a population to find out how much of it would survive.
Then we used a very similar simulation to find out how a forest fire would
happen based on how many trees are in the area. We last made a model of
how a population grows using Stella.
Andrew and Timothy
today we learned about using models to predict what will happen in real
life situations, such as forest fires, neighbors, and birth and death
rates. we used stella models to make our own situations of towns. we used
programs on the internet to learn about the forest fires and the neighbours.
Brinton and Danny
Today in class we did stella models. They weere about the birth and
death rate of people.we made a graph to show the birth rate and population.
however these models were not percisly on the dot of beimg perfect. we
also worked with forset fires and the game of life
Kristin and Maddie
today wuz cool, ya know? we wuz chillin' with chris about people models,
ya know? we wuz also chillin' with bob1, too. THAT'S THAT!
aaron, brenton, and robert
Today in science we learned about the life cycle of Chris's cat
Sam, zooplankton, and a human. We did models of the the life cycle on an
imaginary island.
Blaine
Today we talked about how forest fire's spread and the population
of the world. We had fun.
