Candid Student Reports

The following (emails) were written by members of the Modeling Your world, Session B during the first day of the program. Some elements may have been removed for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.

I had a lot of fun learning 
about the galaxy.  I learned 
how the earth orbits the sun 
and the moon orbits the earth. 
I also learned how stars act.

I really enjoyed todays 
lessons. I thought the 
program Galaxsee was
very cool. I also enjoyed 
making a list of things 
that a ball could model. I
didn't quite understand 
the math problem at the 
end of the Galaxsee class 
but other than that I 
had a great time.

I enjoyed today's class, 
ecspecially the galaxy 
study.  I also enjoyed
the game where we had to 
guess what was written on
our backs.  I've played it
before, except we only had 
to guess our word, not 
find a partner.  I  think
though, that this camp 
should be more hands-on with 
it's projects, but overall
I enjoyed it.  Thanks!

Today we have learned 
about the gravity works 
to pull/push the
moon around the earth. 
The stars and planets 
make up things that we 
call galaxes. IT was 
fun to do things that 
help us learn at the 
same time.

I thought that today was 
very interesting because 
I that some galaxies are 
flat because they bump 
into each other.

Today we studied galaxies 
using the GalaxSee program 
on the computer. We studied 
how to find the velocity of 
the earth and sun. It was 
very interestind and we had 
a lot of fun.

We had fun learning how to use 
the GalaxSee program.  It was
interesting how the stars 
moved and how we had to find 
the velocity of the star and 
see whether it made a perfect 
circle around the sun or not.  
We also learned about 
gravity and what it means.
