Today we learned about computer modeling, they are easier, safer, quicker, and sometimes cost less. We learned a lot more about computer modeling than we did yesterday. This is a great camp, to learn about the Internet and computer. JONATHAN & BUEL
Hi! Christine & Nicole Hello to whoever is listesing, Today at camp we learned about whether to truts a web sit or not. We did an interesting hands on. Bob 1 gave each of us a box of 50 straws. Or it seemed! We counted the straws and two of the boxes contained more than 50. Then we measured them. Just about all of the straws were the wrong leghnths and width. He gave us a good point that it might cost someone his or her life. It was also a good example as to trust a web site. WADE (IEC1) Thanks for a great week! Andrew(iec14) Today Bob1 told us about packaging gimmicks. He took straws for an example. "How many straws are in the package?" he asked. It appeared there was fifty, as the box said, but when counted one box had 48 straws, another 50, and another 53. They also weren't as accurate in the length or diameter, some being up to a 1/8 less than said on the box. So now we know to watch our step before we take it. Jonathan & James Today we learned about using computer models and how they can be easier and safer to use in the studies of viruses and their factors. the flu model showed how it recovered and how quickly. We also looked at ways companys don't always tell the correct info. Taylor Day 4-started out by reviewing day 3. Finished up model sheets from yesterday, and got a few more; the volcano model was cool! Bob1 came back in and talked to us about not trusting what's on the cover of something. A box of straws says that there are 50; are there really? No. Are they all 8 in? No. When Bob1 had finished, Jonathan Paul came in and started us on searching for info. on the Ebola virus. He and andy have been making a model; It took to long, and we tabled it for tomarrow. Bruce Today we talked about a virus called ebola. it is when uyour insides turnm in to liquid and you puke them up. :-o Jordan & Marc Last Update: June 14, 1999 Please direct questions and comments about this page to WebMaster@shodor.org © Copyright 1999 The Shodor Education Foundation, Inc. |
