Outline of a Shodor Lesson
Each Shodor Lesson details the purpose and preparation for the lesson, various ways to present the lesson,
trouble students may have with the lesson, and possible follow up lessons and/or activities. The lessons
are all organized in the same general way. Here is an outline of what makes up a Shodor Lesson and short
descriptions for each subsection:
- Title - Name of the Lesson
- Abstract - Sums up the lesson's concepts
- Objectives - Lists what the student should learn
- Standards - Provides the standards which are addressed in the lesson, based on the
NCTM standards
- Student Prerequisites - Describes the expected knowledge and skills of a
student participating in the lesson
- Teacher Preparation - Outlines the actions a teacher would need to take before
teaching the lesson
- Key Terms - Lists specific terms used in the lesson and a link to the definition of each
term
- Lesson Outline - Includes ideas following the 6 Point Lesson Plan:
- Focus & Review
- Objectives
- Teacher Input
- Guided Practice
- Independent Practice
- Closure
- Alternate Outlines - Suggests how to rearrange the lesson
- Suggested Follow-Ups or Examples - Gives links to and descriptions of follow-up
lessons and activities
