Graphing

These graphing tools allow students to enter ordered pairs, input the function, set windows, show grid, plot data, and graph. Using the mouse, students can then "read" points off the grid and readjust the graph. The graphs are also related to real life situations.

Graphing Lessons
  1. Reading Graphs
This lesson is designed to introduce students to creating and reading graphs of simple functions. This includes practice graphing lines, parabolas, and functions on the Cartesian coordinate plane.
    Related Activity: Graph Sketcher
Graphing Activities
  1. Graph Sketcher
This activity works similarly to a graphing calculator. Students can create graphs of functions by entering in formulas. The domain and range are adjustable and grid lines are an option. Students can also click anywhere on the graph to learn the x and y values at that point.
  2. SimplePlot
This activity is similar to Graph Sketcher, except that students plot ordered pairs instead of functions. Students can view these ordered pairs of numbers either as a scatter plot or with the dots connected.
  3. Function Flyer
This activity involves the graphing of functions. This activity then enables the student to manipulate the constants and coefficients in the function. This encourages the student to explore the effects of changing these numbers on the graph of the function.
  4. Data Flyer
Similar to Function Flyer, this graphing activity allows students to manipulate functions. Additionally, students may plot data points along with a graph of a function in this activity. There is also an option to show the sum of squares of deviations of the data points to the graph.
