Excel can be used in education beyond just calculation purposes. The following tutorials show how to use it in new and dynamic ways:

  • Excel 2003 Tutorial (PDF format): Using Excel for calculations, using formulas, naming cells, and how to create sliders for dynamic content.
  • Excel 2007 Tutorial (PDF format): Using Excel for calculations, using formulas, naming cells, and how to create sliders for dynamic content. Revised for use with Excel 2007

These sample Excel spreadsheets utilize a variety of Excel's functions.

  • Regression: Data sets, sample fits to a variety of equations, calculations of residuals and their graphs.
  • Dynamic/Interactive Models: These examples utilize Excel's form controls in order to create sliders and adjust parameters, making these models dynamic. These models also use Excel's ability to name cells for easy referencing in formulas.
  • Protection: Sample spreadsheets that utilize Excel's "protection" feature so students can only manipulate values in particular cells.
