Candid Student Reports The following (emails) were written by members of the Scientific Computing, 2000 during the second day of the program. Some elements may have been removed for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.
Learned basic C++ programing and reviewed galaxsee. It'd be better if we went into more advanced programing.
Today we learned how to write programs in C++ and we compared the different methods for solving scientific problems on the computer, and why certain ways are better/easier to use to solve the scientific problems. We also learned about bacteria being immune to anti-bacterial soap and we made a model of this using the computer program Stella.
Today was more challenging than yesterday, which is good. I enjoyed learning how to program, except that I wanted to be offered some more different commands/additions to the programs.
Today i learned how to program in c++. Even though it is a great learning experience, it gets very very boring. I am not one of them people who can sit down for long periods of hours.
Today we learned how to program in C++ and we compared C++ to Excel and Stella. We made a bacteria chart in Stella. During the GalaxSee lesson the excel part was a little confusing and too fast. Can we have some potato chips? :)
Today was ok. We learn about programing which I had a great time. The instructor is still going to fast.
Today we learned how to program computers. I enjoyed today and was also interested in the galax-see program. I enjoyed using that. I found it easy how you taught us how to calculate the distance the stars were from the center. I did get a little tired of using and doing the same program over and over. I like when you switched from one thing to another because some programs start to get old .. and boring. But today was more fun than yesterday.
I thought today was, at times, a little boring... but as the day went on it got a little better. I thought the galaxy activity was very interesting and most of the programing part was fun but it was a little confusing at times but i did recover!
I think today was very interesting because ever sense I was in fifth grade I always wanted to learn how to program a computer
