Candid Student Reports

The following (emails) were written by members of the Scientific Computing, Summer 2000 during the fourth day of the program. Some elements may have been removed for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.

Today, we started our projects. Ours used C++
to simulate a cannon shot in different
gravitational environments. It would be better
if we had more time to do the projects.

-Dayu

today we worked in our groups on the projects
we are making. my project is the chemical
properties of artificial sweeteners and natural
sugars. i am learning alot using Macspartan and
PowerPoint, and learning about aspartame and
its effects (which i did not know)

-Katherine

Today we learned a lot about presentation. We
are doing a model on how population can be effected
by education. I think breaks are not long
enough.

-Anwar

I liked working on the projects a lot and
it gave more freedom.

-Justin

i think the reports are the best part of the
whole camp. It teaches us to learn new things
by using our own hands and our own brains. It's
a lot more funto actually look-up the information
yourself rather than just sitting there and
listen to somebody talk and not let you do the
work yourself! Today was very fun and educating!

-Rhyan

Today we finished our project in C++. It works
just fine. We still have a powerpoint presentation
to do.

-Ronnie

TODAY WAS PROBABLY THE BEST DAY THIS WHOLE WEEK.
(OTHER THAN THE DAY I WAS NOT HERE). BUT I THINK
WHEN YOU I HAVE HANDS-ON WORK INSTEAD OF SOMEONE
STANDING IN FRONT OF YOU FOR HOURS JUST TALKING
THEN THE DAY IS ALOT BETTER. (AND QUICKIER)
