Candid Student Reports

The following (emails) were written by members of the Saturday Explorations Club during the first session of the program. Some elements may have been removed for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.

Today I learned how to use a wind tunnel to test wings. Also I
learned about the different parts of wings, like the leading edge, trailing
edge, chord, wing area, and span. Overall is very fun to learn about.

Today we learned about aerodynamics. We learned about how an
airplane flies. it was a lot of fun and I could figure it out pretty
easily. After we used the wind tunnel. We did a simulator on how to get an
airplane to fly. I liked the part where we did calculations on different
airplanes. (I got to do altitude.) I learned that as your airplane takes
off from a higher and higher altitude, your lift is less. I didn't know
that. Once you really think about it, it makes sense. But, I never really
thought about it.
