Class started out with Garrett going over the data that the class collected yesterday. The students used the data that they collected and inputed it into the computer to create graphs. The students seemed to enjoy inputing the information into the computer. The students also changed the information to see how the graph changed based on the data. The students made observations about how the graph changed and shared it with the class. As the students placed in their values for velocity and/or height they would get the other value that they did not know. Garrett then showed the students how to make sure that the information that they got was accurate, making sure that their units all matched. The students put in all of the information that they gained from their trials with the race cars on yesterday. The students then went into a graphing calculator program. Garrett and the students started talking about the significance of ordered pairs. The students then palced the ordered pairs of thir data into the input window. Garrett walked around to make sure all the students understood what they were doing. After this activity the students realized that given any height or velocity one can figure out the other variables. This can be used to make a successful model that works. The students then used the data that they collected, and created models that were accurate and worked the way they wanted them to. The students seemed to have a hard time doing this because of a limited amount of time to finish, but overall they seemed to understand it. Last Update: |
