Candid Student Reports

The following (emails) were written by members of the Modeling Your World class during the first session of the program. Some elements may have been removed for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.

Letters to Richard

Today at Shodor Foundation Inc. we did experiments
with a galaxybattle field. We alsoread aticles
on colliding galaxies and on black holes and in
galaxy we found out if what they were saying
was true. It was so eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeexciting!
                        - Amos

Today class was soooooooooooooo great. I learned
what galaxies do when they collide. Alton's class
was gggggreeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaatttttt.

See it!

This is a picture of galaxy 4000002. Galaxy
4000002 is made up oflittle red stars. Today we
learned how to make the galaxies. It was very fun.
We read articles about colliding galaxies and about
what black holes are. We also went on the CNN
website and found pictures of galaxies and blackholes.
It was very interesting but I would much rather be
at home. But I guess its been cool!

This is what we did. The diganial point of A is in
the center point of B. A = Red and B = blue. A has
a lot of red but little blue. B has half red and half
blue. As A moves B moves the other way.

THIS IS THE GALAXY THAT MATTHEW & MCKENZI MADE.
AND WE WOULD LIKE TO GIVE IT TO YOU. IT IS MADE OF
BLUE & RED STARS. It is called M&M's Galaxy Picture.
We hope you like it a lot.

This is what happens when galaxies collide. It is
really cool and wacky. All the stars formed 2 star
clusters which moved in circular orbits. I hope you enjoy
wacthing it. william likes your glasses.
