Candid Student Reports

The following reports were written by members of Modeling Your World, Session A during the third day of the program. Some elements may have been removed/edited for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.

I like this camp it was fun. I learned to model our world. I love this camp.


Karyree

I liked playing the predator & prey game. Also I liked the game of 5 people getting in the elevator with paint on the walls. I didn't have a dislike in this class. I learned how to make charges and assemble them.


Ethan

Today's class was great. I had lot's of fun. I learned about charges and electrons and sciences. That was cool! What I didn't like about today was nothing. Everyone was nice.

Today I liked learning about predator-prey relationship models, but the activity with the "wet paint" elevator wasn't very fun for me.

I think that the programs that you used were great. I like programs like that.


Jackson

Today was fun because of the activities like that wet paint elevator. The models are a little hard, but educational. I'm learning a lot at the Shodor camp. It is very fun.

I enjoyed all of it. I disliked not playing the Predator and Prey game.

This class was fun. First we modeled rabbits and wolves on Stella®. Then we modeled how to control electron's space. We modeled that with SimSurface. Here is some constructive critisism: Don't make us do these reports.

Today everybody had fun. First, we made a model of rabbits and foxes. The foxes ate the rabbits and the rabbits died faster. Then we went outside and tried to position ourselves in boxes. Since it got complicated, we went inside and did it on the computer. We predicted what would happen, and then did it on a program. It was really fun.


Nathalie

The class today was ok we had to model a prey a predator lifestyle. We got to go out side and model that only one predator with a lot of prey had a hard time, and that a lot of predators and some prey caused the prey to not survive. Also, we had to figure out a way to arrange people in an elevator and to find out a way that they will all have enough space. We also modeled that on the computer and my way of modeling that was right! I think that this was a better class than yesterday and if the classes stay like this I think that I will be coming here more often.
