Candid Student Reports

The following reports were written by members of Modeling Your World during the second day of the program. Some elements may have been removed/edited for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.

Kennia

I Love this camp

Robert

What I liked was the different models and how they work on a computer.

Kai

today we made computer models with probibility. The first model that we did was seting a tree on fire and seing how many percent of a forest it burned. The second model that we did was getting sick people to go into the same place and see how many would get sick.

Kyle

Today we had a lot of fun doing models of sick people on NetLogo. We talked about probability also. Then we made an aggragate model of sick people on Vensims. I had a lot of fun.

Victoria

Today at Shodor, we had a fun time. First we talked about forest fire and how it spreads. We played this really nice game in which you could transform from seed to bush to tree or just go back to the ground again. Also we talked about diseases and their rates. The program i used was Vensuim. Most people did not taken Algebra but I did son every thing was much more familiar. So nice!!!!!!

Bianca

Today we look at what happened to people when they had a certain time to die to get infected and different things. Before that we talked about proability. Today was fun.

Avery

We had lots of fun experimenting with probability. We tested how much of the forest would burn with different fracations. Some of the fractions were really different from the others, eventhougth we used the same fraction.

Ben

Today we did a lot of stuff with infected people, dead people, immune people, and healthy people on NetLogo. It was really fun. One thing I did not like, however, was using Vensims to make graphy thingys that I knew absolutely nothing about.
