Today class started out by looking at another one of Euler's problems about crossing bridges. The class determined that the wanted result was in fact impossible to achieve. The class then explored sequences, and related this to their exploration of patterns yesterday. Along with pencil and paper the students used Microsoft Excel (a spread sheet program) to run very long sequences to see exactly what would happen. The sequences were then related to the turtle and the hare fable . The students looked at an applet dealing with this fable and how it relates to math on the interactivate site. Last Update: |
