During the first day of class Jon taught the students to create tessellations by hand. Once the students completed their hand-made tessellations they began to create tessellations using the computer. After the students understood how they had created tesselations using the computer they began to work with number patterns.

After the break the students then took those patterns and moved to a greater pattern called the binary system. They learned that the binary system is made up of zeros and ones and is read by computers, printers, and modems. The students then helped Jon find a quick way to tell if numbers were prime or composite. The students were then given a challenge question from Jon.
