The fourth day of class started with Bob1 talking about the definition of analogies and pattern recognition. Then they moved from patterns to using rope by using an equation to represent the direction to tying the rope a certain way. Each end of the rope was represented by a different variable in the equation. Bob1 then challenged the students to make a knot without letting go of the rope on either ends.

Bob1 went on to talk more about analogies. This time he talked about how many ways you can do something and it wtill be the same thing. Bob1 then went on to give the students another challenge to take home with them which included figuring out how many ways thy can put three circles together.

After the break Jon asked the students to find the length of the eastern coast of the United States on Netscape. After they finished Jon took a volunteer to draw the eastern coast on the board. Jon then went back to the board and explained to the students how you can get a more accurate measurement by estimating on different scales or comparing them to diffent shapes. Next Jon talked about fractals, and the students worked on recognizing patterns. Jon drew a picture of Serpinski's Triangle and usd a computer program along with all of the students to form them into fractals.

Lastly the students played a computer interactive game called Chaos for better undersanding of fractals.
