The second day of class began with the students checking their email. Kirstin then led the class in a very valuable learning experience. She showed the class the binary encription system. The students were then challenged to decode codes that they had previously recieved. Once they figured out the code they realized that all of the code names were linked by state and that they had other letters at the end of the state. The students then put the states in alphabetical order to determine that the extra letters created a sentence. Before Kirstin started the next activity she had one of the students explain what went on in class yesterday. Next, the students learned about bookmarking and the technique necessary to use that tool. Before the break the students started a scaveger hunt in order to find reliable sources using an internet search engine. After the break was over Bob1 brought the scavenger hunt to an close by showing the students that they need to be extra careful when searching for sites that carry information on the internet. Bob1 used objects that the students use and see on a regular basis to show them that information no matter where it comes from can be misleading. Last Update: |
