The third day of class began with the students checking their personal email. The students then went to the house next door to learn to write instructions. They began writing instructions by listing what was neccesary to draw a house. Once the students wrote a plan to draw a house. After each student wrote a plan they gave it to one of their peers and their peers were instructed to follow the instructions that were on the paper. They had to write a plan to tell Kirstin how to put on clothes. The class came back to the lab and began to use STELLA to model population dynamics. Once they had all the data in the STELLA program they formed many different charts. After the charts were completed the class observed and discussed them. They interpreted what the charts showed and how it represented what was actually happening in the world. Bob1 spent this afternon teaching the students. He showed how hard collaboration is. He also showed the students that through computers collaboration was easier. The students then understood that it is necessary that scientists collaborate. Bob then led the students to a model called "Rabbits and Wolves." Rabbits and Wolves was about predator/prey dynamics in real life. The program is set up so that someone can change the settings to cause a specific species to go extinct, as well as show the effects that it would have on the environment if such an event happened in real life.
