Quick Overview!
Endorphins are small neurochemicals, consisting of a largely of peptides, that are released by our body. They are produced by the central nervous system and the pituitary gland. They get their name from being natural pain relievers. Since endorphins act on the opiate receptors in our brains, they reduce pain and boost pleasure, resulting in a feeling of well-being. Endorphins are usually released in response to pain or stress, but they’re also released during other activities, like eating or exercising. This website consists of an agent model that explores how location can have an affect on the endorphins release, as well as a system model that gives a basic introduction to the different things that cause our endorphin levels to either rise or fall.
