Flu Model
Activities:
The students use a computer model (SIR) to explore the characteristics of a flu
outbreak. By adjusting sliders they determine the effects of starting with one or
multiple infected people. They evaluate the impact of sick leave policies on the
productivity of a company that is affected by the flu outbreak. They recommend a
policy for vaccinating the employees and/ or the their families.
Materials needed:
Computer with Internet access or CD with this lesson.
