Today we discussed weird math. We learned that all math does not have to
be true normally, but it might be true under some circumstances. For example,
10+5=3. In regular math this not true, but there is a story behind this equation.
This equation is related to a clock where 10 is 10 o'clock + three hours
which equals 3 o'clock. During the class we also discussed what effects the
length of a day and how fractions are related to fractals.

Today we did things about weird math. We made clock from different planets
or from made up planets. Later we talked about fractions and other things.
- Amos
Today we made small triangles and they looked really cool. We made clocks
from different planets. Mine was called Hibernetagestahirone. My clock looks
really neat it is only a two letter clock. Weird math. It is when you put
like things together until the things can not be seen. We are planning about
tomorrow.

Weird Math
One thing we enjoyed learning about is cyclic arithmetic. Our teacher classified
this as "Weird Math." This is because on a 9 hour clock (for instance) 8+4
could equal 3. Then we learned about exponents. An exponent is how many times
a number multiplies itself. Exponents are kind of difficult to use without
a calculator, because the numbers grow so incredibly fast.

Today was lots of fun. We learned about Weird math. We also made up our own
planets. I called my planet Plutoagusmusterdchefmacoroni.
- Anne
Today we started out by discussion clock algebra. We made our own equations
using a time table we made up, or chose from the 9 planets. Then we discussed
multiple dimensions, and what would happen if someone from a different
dimension came into our dimension. We then experimented with different forms
of fractals, and mathematical explanations of different fractals. We also
discussed exponential growth.
- Ben and Daniel
I learned that x times 10=x and x times5=x.
- Veronica
Today was fun. We learned about weird math. Like 40+40=40 and we got to make
up planets. I named mine Planet Weirdo
- Michelle
Today we talked about weird math One example is 5+12=5. But 5 plus 12 dose
not equal 5!! So how could that be?! I now know that that problem was being
used clock-wise instead of being used by normal addition. Then we went on
the internet . There were three games there. The first one we went on was
called "Koch Curve." It was about a triangle turning into a star, then into
a detailed star, then a very detailed star, then becoming into a very, very
detailed star .....etc. Then for the rest of the time we talked mostly about
paradoxes.
- Natalie
Today we talked about weird math. For example, if you went up to a guy and
said "I will walk your dog every day. The first day it will only cost one
cent. The second day the price will double. It will still only be two cents.
Every day the price will double." If he agreed, by the 28th day you would
have $1,342,177.28. Cool eh?
