Candid Student Reports The following (emails) were written by members of the Math Explorations, Session B during the second session of theprogram. Some elements may have been removed for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.
Today was ok we learned about binary code, and started to learn about how base 1-10 worked.
I like it when you make us think. And try to help us when we need help, and not giving us the answers when we can figure it out. You give hints of what we have learned.
Today we did something a little bit different from yesterday. We used Euler Examples to help create paths and circuits. Some of the examples were difficult and it took me a while to answer them. Near the end of class we drew maps. The reason for drawing maps was that we were trying to find out if there was any way that you could draw a map using more than four colors. Class was really interesting today.
I thought todays class was extremely boring. I learned nothing because since the new math that we have at school is integrated we already have learned everything already. I was trying my best to be nice and pay attention, but the class was about something I have known for a while and I felt that I shouldn't have to learn it again.
Today was my first day. Math Explorations was really fun. I liked what we did. The kids taking pictures were very distracting.
Today we did puzzles and found easier ways to solve them. They didn't put me to sleep, but I didn't love them. The best part was inventing maps that had to have five colors so the same colors didn't touch. I really liked it.
I liked todays lesson about the maps and how exiting you made it.
