The purpose of this activity is to provide you with an authentic problem that faces many scientists, decision-makers, politicians and citizens everyday. Smog is of concern for health reasons-- causing increased breathing difficulty for people with asthma as well as eye irritation . In addition smog decreases visibility increasing the probability of accidents.

In this scenario you will have the opportunity to learn about the reactions that occur that form photochemical smog and factors that could lead to an increase or decrease in the concentration of smog.

Before you begin trying out different situations on the run the model page, it is important that you have read enough information about smog photochemistry on the other pages to understand what you are modeling.
