Required Software

To open these system models, you will need the Vensim application downloaded on your computer. You will then be able to view and run the model.

To run the model, press "Simulate". To adjust parameters such as the Birth Fraction, press "SyntheSim" and adjust the slider bars.

Model 1: Population of China

In this model, the quantities are men and women. There is a birth rate for men and a death rate for men. There is also a birth rate for women and a death rate for women.

In this model, each 1 person represents 1 million people.

Model 2: Population of China With Competition

In this model, the quantities are men and women. There is a birth rate for men and a death rate for men. There is also a birth rate for women and a death rate for women. Competition is added to this model so there may be a lack of resources at times which will affect the population when it gets to high.

Model 3: Population of China with Competition and the One Child Policy

In this model, the quantities are men and women. There is a birth rate for men and a death rate for men. There is also a birth rate for women and a death rate for women. Competition is still present in this model. However, the One Child Policy has been added which allow each family unit to have only one child.
