Dr. Panoff talked to us for most of today. He made us think about some interesting ideas, introducing the idea of sufficient versus necessary being interchangable in certain situations. By the end of the day, we found out that Google is not a very reliable source of information by searching for the mass of different planets and getting different answers then other sources.

Today Dr.Panoff taught us about concepts like the scientifc method (he also revisted the idea that google isn't the most reliable source and you should check multiple sources). After lunch, we learned about office ethics. This information was very useful because this is the first time i've ever worked in an office enviroment.

In the morning, we went over the "How Do You Know" homework assignment. After we went over how to set up a simple coin flip in excel with IF statements. By lunch time I had met with my mentor for the first time, where he introduced himself again and we went over some of the key aspects of the apprenticeship program. This meeting wasn't very long due to lack of material to talk about seeing as its the third week. A guest speaker came in to talk to us about how she worked with NASA creating some of the code that was required to go into space, which was really cool.

Today we did more things with Excel. We went over a lot of Programming concepts. Using the concepts we learned, we made Simulations in Microsoft Excel, One such thing was the use of Excel to show Heat transfer. Today was an exciting day in the office, learning concepts which are fun but at the same time useful.

Today I learned about a simple equation that can be applied to anything. The equation is have=had+change. We learned about successive approximation as well, which is when you make an approximation and then another and so on until you make it better. I found out about a new program for modeling called Vensim.

Today I learned more about using equations to calculate the change in something, and I learned how to use agent cubes online and made a graph that showed people getting sick and healthy people.

Today we started our group project. I partnered with Paul to create a model of a booming buisness. We both came up with a story for our model then began to apply that story to creat our vensim model and agent cubes model.

Today we continued to work on our model projects with Agent Cubes Online and Vensim. Paul and I both worked more on the agentcubes model in an attempt to make our buisness model more realistic and show all the things we want it to show.

Today Paul and I worked on and finished our Vensim and AgentCubes models. We tweaked the AgentCubes model a lot so that it would be able to function for a long period of time without the people dying out at some point. We started on the webpage for the project but did not get to finish it. We will be ready to present it during our next meeting.

Today I did many things at the office concerning my Agentcubes model including creating my projects website page with Paul and getting ready to present our project to the rest of the apprentices.

I learned about coding and JavaScript, and I worked on a predator-prey project in Atom. I am very excited to learn more about coding and become better at programming.

Today we briefly summarized the Programming Concepts that we resumed learning about last week. After that we continued working in Atom on changing a predator-prey model to a disease model. I am enjoying this project because it is teaching me a lot about code and it will teach me more in the future. The way we are doing this is great for learning because we discuss what we are changing before we do it, so it teaches us and helps us complete the project.
