Office Ethics/Introduction- Today was the first day of the first semester at Shodor. We learned about each of our fellow apprentices when we did a introduction game. We learned about office do's and don't.One of the mentors came in and displayed all the things you should not do in the office like wear open toe shoes or clothing with no sleeves. There was a powerpoint to go alone with the demo. For homework we wrote paper on office ethics. After we learned the rules for shodor we got some forms and did our daily reflection.

How do you know?- Today was the second day of Shodor. We learned about how important it is to be able to prove something. One of the mentors asked some questions and then we had to answer the question and be able to back it up with evidence. Then we loked up sizes of planets and when some of us got different values for the size of one planet we learned that when you use different websites some of the websites may be unreliable. At the end of the day we did our reflection.

Computer Modeling- Today at Shodor we learned how to build a system model and how to login using terminal. We also built a model that showed the probability of people getting infected and infected people becoming dead or immune. We also got a chance to use vensim and make a graph that showed the relation between the different people.

Computer Modeling- Today we finished making the model that showed the levels of sickness between people. We turned the vensim modle we made last week into a agent sheets modle and we got to make different agents and see them interact with each other. Next time we will get to start on our group project and now I know how to use vensim and agent sheets.

Group Project- Today we started on our projects. The point of the project is to be able to show the relationship that tagged fish and seals and non tagged fish and seals. For the project I got to work with my brother and it should be interesting because I have never worked with him before. We agreed to split it up so I will start on the vensim modle and he will start on the agent sheets model.

Group Project/Presentations- Today we put the finishing touches on our project. My partner and I had to make sure that both the agent sheets model and the vensim model displayed the same data and worked. The last half of the day was spent listening to other people present there model. All together it was not the most fun day but I am glad we got to present our work.

Intro to JavaScript- Today we learned how to use javascript for the first time. We started to alter a a javascript program called bouncing particles. We used things like comments that helped us understand the functions of every part of the code. I was able to change the colors, size and number of the particles. I really enjoyed using javascript because it was simple due to the fact that all commands had a comment. If you are interested in seeing my final product it is in my portfolio under Bouncing Particles.

Intro to JavaScript- Today we continued our work with javascript. This week we got the chance to create our own javascript program. Our task was to create a magic eight ball simulation. Using all the responses that a normal magic eight ball would give you we plugged them in to the code and made it random so that it would be as similar to a eight ball as possible. The finished thing is on my website under portfolio named magic 8-ball. We also worked on a simulation that could tell a person how many seconds, minutes, years and hours that you have been alive and that is also on my website its called time alive.

Intro to JavaScript- Today we learned about loops and the times when they are useful and the times when they are not. We also made another bouncing particles simulation. We used math.random to create random blinking colors for the particles. We used the same bouncing particles simulation as the one we used on the 7th we added lines of code so that we could add buttons, blinking colors and different color backgrounds. The button that we created makes the background go from random to aqua when clicked twice. This bouncing particles is currently on my website it is called 2nd bouncing particles. Warning if you do want to look at it don't look for very long it could give you a headache.

Group project- Today we started working on our group project. The project was very similar to the one we did last winter with the seals and the fish but we had to do it using javascript. We had to make the seals eat the fish and the fish eat the algae. At the start we just copied and pasted the commands we needed for the fish from the seals code or vice versa. Then we had to add new components and comment out thing in order to make sure they worked. Or if we did not want to do that we could use the error console to find mistakes. Even at the start I knew that using javascript instead of vensim and agent sheets would be a lot faster and simpler.

Group project- Today is pi day(3-14-15). I was not at shodor for most of the day because I had school makeup days. When I came from school my partner and I made the fish eat the algae at the bottom of the simulation. Today I did not get to work very much on the project but next I hope to get more done.

Group project- Today we finished putting the final touches on our group project. The seals would not eat the fish they would just lay on top of them so we needed to fix that. After we were done with the fish seal project we started group presentations I though ours went good. If you would like to see it check under portfolio it is called seal and fish simulation.

Parellel computing- Today we started parellel computing Aaron and Mobeen whent over the definition of parellel computing. We downloaded bccd on our computers. When we finished going over how to install it we had some time to check out what cool things you could do on it, like if you type sl you can see a train. Today was not a long day at shodor we had early dismissal and go out at 12 insted of 2:30. I am really happy yto be able to learn more about parellel computing.

Parallel computing- Today we worked on finding the area of a circle useing rectangles. We were also suposed to find "What are some of the top supercomputer in the world?" they are Tianhe-2, Titan, and Sequoia. "Where are they located?" they are located in China’s National University of Defense Technology, DOE/SC/Oak Ridge National Laboratory United States, and DOE/NNSA/LLNL United States. "How many cores do they have?" they have 3,120,000, 560,640, and 1,572,864 cores. "Where does the Blue Waters supercomputer show up in the list?" it is not on the list. "Why doesn’t it show up in the list?" because it is not one of the top 10 super computers. Next week will be the last week we come to shodor before the summer so the spring semester is almost over.

HLD work- Today was the first day of the first summer block at shodor. For the first part of the day we started working on making HDLs that is like a entry document for our agentsheets project. We choose from a list of scenarios than we wrote a word document that told whoever got the document the things that needed to be done in the agent sheets model. The for the second half of the day I did documentation for the first time. Documentation is when you go to one of the workshop classes and sit there take pictures and at the end you write a report saying what happened in that classes for that day. I had the chance to do it for a web design class and they were learning basic things about the website.

Agentsheets project- Today was the second day of the first summer block at shodor. We have a agentsheets project to go with the HLDs. We all got another persons HLD and we had to make an agentsheets simulation for it. The one I got was for the scenario fashionista phil. What we had to do was use the guidelines that the person that created the HLD and make a agentsheets model then we presented to phil and the person who made the HLD. So I spent most of the day working on my agent sheets model so far I have the agents made and they all move around.

Agentsheets project- Today was the third day of the first summer block at shodor. We continued our work on the agentsheets project. I had to remake my agents because I found out that for the scenario that I had there were only suposed to be four agents (Hipster, counter, back ground and people) then I was suposed to make multiple depictions of the people agent (person1,person2,person3,person4 and person5). This made it so much easier because I only had to write one set of rules for all the people. I am almost done with the people rules now I have to find out how to get them to change there colors multiple times.

Agentsheets project- Today was the fourth day of the first summer block at shodor. Today we continued our work on our agent sheets models. I was able to get my agents to change colors multiple times by the end of the first half of the day. I had to make it so that the agents had a resistance and when the color got past a number then they would turn into the least popular color so that a trend did not get to popular. I was able to finish my model by the end of the day and present it to phil.

Today I continued helping with Rons engineering work shop but since the circuits content was new to me there was not much I could do other than help the students who fell behind a little bit.they did circuits and each student had a chance to build there own circuits. A professor came to teach the students how to build the circuits and how the circuits work.

Today I spent the whole day in the engineering workshop. The students had a chance to talk about why balloons float so that later they could create a bat that would hold marbles. Before lunch we gave the students a amount of fake money then they could trade the money for different thing to create there boats. They worked on the boats a little past lunch time. After they finished the work on the boat we went outside and and tested the boats They got to see how many marbles each of the boats held. I created a boat myself and it held 500 marbles so that was fun.
