Today we learned all about how agent sheets worked and new directories. We also finished our vinsim project from last week. We built a pretty complex zombies vs. human agent sheets, which defiantly got me use to agent sheets and I will defiantly use agents sheets for the art work project.
11-23-13
Today we learned a lot from Ron who taught us do's and dont's about professional business ethics. When Ron left we had Joel come into the class and teach us about the 4 internet programs, http, ftp, ssh, nfs, then Joel helped us make a ssh using terminal. Lastly Phil and us, the class, made a model using Tourist vs. Cannibals, and this was my day at shodor.
12-8-13
Today my partner, Rosemary, and I worked on our art walk computer model using agent sheets, modeling students making it into the 2 cafeteria's from the classrooms with and without sculptures in their way. Rosemary and I done what I would call a terrific job! We finished all of our model and got the base of presentation completely done. For our presentation we used prizi(which before today I had no idea what it was)and we finished a nice presentation.
12-14-13
Today was the last day in 2013 that I went to shodor, I worked on my website for the majority of the day and was able to complete most of it except for the blogs. It was great because I was finally able to use css code which is different but I defiantly liked it. I was able to set up my website and do what I thought looked nice.
2-1-14
Today me and my partner presented our projects and then after everyone who needed to present their project, presented their project we then worked on javascript with Mr Aaron. Toward the end we used variables to get a better concept of javascript which defiantly helped me understand javascript, although I did not like how if you say type of with parenthesis then it gives you one of 5 things which I hope to get a better understanding of after today. Lastly we worked on operators which is basically as simple as addition and subtraction once, I got used to it.
2-8-14
Today the class we finished Conditionals, we finished up our operators from last week and we used quite a bit of the error console, which ends up being very use full for text wrangler. We worked on already made programs and changed them so that they didn't work by using "else if" when it should be just "if". We worked and used a lot of javascript and we started to work on for loops and while loops. These loops will help us on text wrangler. We changed Mr Weeden's ant program, we used it to change the global variable "i" to different numbers than the Default of 1. Mr Weeden came in towards the end and helped us learn how to do a "hello world".
3-1-14
Today at shodor we learned about memory. We learned about distributed memory and shared memory between super computers or cluster computers. Also I saw my very first cluster computer or LittleFe today they look pretty cool. We used BCCD terminals and learned about models such as, galaxsee(model of stars in galaxy) and a pandemic(disease model).
3-8-14
Shodorific things happend today, such as playing with the galaxsee some more. We also learned more about cluster computers with Aaron and Phil. We learned when and why these cluster computers are used.
3-15-14
Today at shodor we did many things about computers! We did more parallel computing and we learned it can be faster or in some cases it can be slower. Then we learned what algorithm is and we all had to make basic examples of 1(I did an algorithm of how to figure out how someone made the perfect EGGS). We also finished up our learning and using of lynx and terminal. Lastly at the end we went over VVA with Phil.
3-29-14
Today at shodor we got our forest fire projects and my new partner is Andrew. Andrew and I at first planned our forest fire project, then we built the base of our project by changing the fully shaded square trees into only the outline of a square, which I believe looks way better and also we took away the annoying pop up that came up every time you started a fire and changed the fire dot from orange to black.
4-5-14
Wasn't here this day of shodor but my partner andrew presented our project in front of the other apprentices.
7-7-14
Today at shodor was the first day of the summer apprenticeship program I have gone to. I could only stay for 2 hours both today and tomorrow because I have drivers ed from 10 till 2. When I got to shodor Joel had taught a personal lesson to me about version control and how to update it and use it properly.
7-8-14
Today at shodor I also only stayed for 2 hours but when I got to shodor today they had gotten 7 PHP projects which I started Dane Joe. Joel also explained a little bit about PHP to me.
7-9-14
Shodor was rocking today(as of every day)Joel was teaching us about cookies(I dont mean the yummy ones)and how their really not all that useful. Also Joel helped us with making calendar php's which is one of the project.
7-10-14
Today was great I learned a whole lot about strings I was able to(with Phil's help) to complete most of my first project. The string I added made it so when you typed in your first and last name, with the click of a button you were able to see the first and last letter of your first and last name get switched. Before I was working on my project tho Joel helped us with some more php stuff and also gave us a small introduction to xml. This was my day here at shodor.
7-11-14
Shodor was fun today(as of everyday) I finished my Dane Joe project which honestly was a pain but I am finally done, and I started AND completed the Random Hex Code project which was actually kind of fun to do and mess with after I was done. For the first hour Joel was teaching us about session and cookie php's which are nice. Also he did a very close hidden php that did the same thing as the session php but was done in a different way.
7-14-14
TODAY Joel taught us how to use mysqli and databases by making a testDB and explaining it along the way. I did a little work to my website and I did a little work to some projects. After the break I did a lot with codeacademy, to try and make my php skills a little bit better. The very last thing I did on this sleepy monday is start and complete the dice statistics project.
7-15-14
Joel taught us some more about mysqli and databases on this tuesday. Joel was working with terminal and we followed and he put up some tables of models we were doing yesterday and today. I added some finishing touches to my Dice Statistics project by putting up a background color for the table and adding a die so instead of being able to roll 2 dice constantly now you are able to roll 3 with a dice sum. Lastly I did a little of code academy towards the end of class and at the very end of class I had to Clean the boards.
7-16-14
Today Joel had us link our mysqli's to our TextWrangler's which was cool because he had mentioned that you were able to do that but it was interesting to see that both terminal and TextWrangler can be linked together. Joel also taught us about JOIN and all the types of JOIN. After lunch I started and got my basic layout, it's a calendar but it's very white and boring at the moment. I did have to leave at 2:30 because I have to drive for drivers ed.
7-17-14
Today at Shodor Joel taught us more about query and we worked on a little of our join.php. I worked a lot on my Calendar project, by adding a drop down box which lets you pick what the starting day of the month is. Also I made a css for my calendar page so it could look a little nicer and look a little less white. Today I had to leave again due to drivers ed, but today is the last day I will miss some of Shodor due to drivers ed.
7-18-14
Today at shodor we had no lesson plan from any of the instructors so I got time to work on a project and make changes to any of my other ones. I started and completed my Background Selector project and Phil said he liked the way I did mine cause no one else did theirs like mine. I also started and did almost all of my dynamic pages project. Also I added a title to ALL of my projects because for some reason I only had a title for 1 of my 5 completed projects. Lastly I got the project from my fall program to send me the fire starter project because we did the actual work on his computer but now I have to fix it because he played around with it earlier in june so I can earn my fall stipend.
7-21-14
Shodor is cool, mainly when James Flynn and Ron is teaching us about some engineering. Going to when I showed up at shodor today we had an intern teach us about some java script which is good because Im not very good at java. James Flynn also taught us about bridges and how squares would be no good to use because they would not be able to rigid it would start to wobble around so engineers designed trusses. They make a square and slap a line diagonal line in it to make 2 squares and it makes it tough and rigid.
7-22-14
This morning at shodor we learned about regular expressions with phil. We practice it at regexr.com which was a good website for practicing regular expressions. After lunch we randomly choose partners to build a structure that is to be designed to hold as many marbles as possible with being as high as you could make. Jeremy and I made our project and we ended up coming in 4th because I said stop way to early we only got to 73 marbles but it ended up being able to carry a full cup of marbles with a little pressure from James and it still didn't break so we made a good product but we didn't back our project up.
7-23-14
Early in the morning Amal was teaching us about ajax which is alternate javascript and XML. Later in the day after lunch we had some fun with James Flynn and the engineering crew. We built very simple circuits that lit up an LeD light, which was a very nice way to show us how things are lit up.
7-24-14
We started off the day at Shodor learning about Recursion and factorials with Eric. After our lunch break we did more engineering with James and crew. Today for our engineering lesson we modeled a track to make things easy for humans. We made a small track made of foam so that we could easily transfer a ball down a ramp and jumped into a small film row cup. James was trying to show us that people use modeling to make things easier and potentially safer.
7-25-14
Today at shodor me and a group of apprentices put together a cluster computer which was pretty fun speaking I do not come to shodor thinking to use a screwdriver every day. At the end of the day Allen, Jeremy and I built a boat and it was very nice boat but we did not use enough tape which ended in some bad water leakage, to let us only withstand 30 marbles.
7-28-14
This morning at shodor we worked on our projects and put some finishing touches on a few finished projects then I made alternate and default pages on my website. After lunch we also just spent time doing projects from last week, with the help from Ishaan I was able to start and finish my recursion template which was very nice accomplishment.
7-29-14
Today at Shodor Kristen showed us some resumes and told us what should be and what shouldn't be on a resume, then the apprentices were told to create a resume. I was able to completely finish my resume and send it to kristen. The rest of the day was set out to do projects and anything that it is that we are working on.
7-30-14
Today Phil Introduced the new project, which is an imaginary store. I didn't start this project today I did a few more things with my Stocks and Snowflake. I mainly did stiff with my resume.
7-31-14
For the first hour in class today we worked on any projects we had to complete and also yesterday we were introduced to a new project that required me to make a store. We were not aloud to work on that project though because the databases are down and it requires mysqli to make the project with. In the morning I was able to finally finish my fire burner from the winter program. After lunch was over the databases were back up, and we were able to work on our new project.
8-1-14
Today at shodor was pretty laid back we had to say our goodbyes to phil since he was leaving for DC. Also I saw 3 peoples presentation since today is their last day as an apprentice and maybe their last day at shodor. Productivity wise I worked a little on creating an alternate website and finished up my stocks.
8-4-14
Today at shodor was another laid back day, but I was able to complete my alternate style website. If you are read this go check that out it will make you hungry if your a human being. Getting my alternate website was a lot harder than I thought, because I had to learn how to repeat an Image from w3 schools. After lunch I started working on the Inkscape and Gimp tutorials and tomorrow I will try and complete my logo and web design.
8-5-14
Today at shodor I finished my responsive website which is definitely a useful tool if you had a popular website (which I dont). Its very useful if you have people who try to acces your website and mobile devices. Also I finished my written HLD.
8-6-14
Today at shodor I did my first documentation ever in the morning and it wasn't all bad I didn't mind to document and take pictures of the workshop. After my great documentation was time for lunch, but then to work. I send my HLD written and got it back and have started my AgentSheets model for the new Art Walk.
8-7-14
Today at shodor all I did was worked with AgentSheets to try and attempt to complete the new Art Walk. This is a tough project to do I am the only person to get assigned with this project so it is hard to ask for help. I did finish my scent for happy visitors to leave the building after they get happy from looking at multiple paintings.
8-8-14
Today at shodor I worked and completed my New Art Walk project I got some help from Zach with making my art walk project. The only thing I still have to do is the gimp inscape tutorial in a week so I may miss a few days of shodor next week since the project only takes an hour or so everyone tells me.
8-11-14
Today at shodor I was able to completely complete my Gimp tutorial by making the Taj Mahal and the Blimp. Instead of using the fireworks at the Taj Mahal I used Pancakes at the Taj Mahal. Please take a look at it if you haven't already, that thing is nice.
8-12-14
Today at shodor I made a little bit of my pancake model, which is a person eats pancakes until he is full. After this I went back to my snowflake and made a slider which, I use to have a drop down box but, I was thinking about it and no one had a slider. I made a slider and I tried my best to be original.
8-14-14
Today was my last day at shodor, which means I presented all of my projects from the summer apprenticeship program. I did a few other clean ups with some projects. For example, I fixed my stocks project from having to refresh the page after typing in www. then deleting and refreshing again.
