My name is Divya Aikat and I'm a rising freshman at Chapel Hill High School. I really like math and science. I hope to be a doctor when I grow up. I'm not really sure at the moment which type of doctor I want to be. I'm taking Spanish 3 this year. I've taken Spanish since kindergarten. My favorite subject in school is Science. For sports, in the past I've done soccer, basketball, volleyball, field hockey, swimming, and cross country. Currently, I do dance. For all three years of middle school, I did chorus, was on the Science Olympiad team, and did the MathCounts club. I love reading and I've bought Gray's Anatomy, the medical book, and am working on reading through it all.
When I travel, I enjoy going to Michigan to visit my cousins, grandparents, and aunt and uncle. Over the 2016 winter break, I travelled to India for the first time in 11 years! I also really enjoy watching Netflix and my favorite show is House M.D. I have an older brother, who's currently a Morehead-Cain scholar at UNC and also worked at Shodor. I was born in Chapel Hill and I've lived there my whole life. Both of my parents are professors at UNC, my mom works in computer science and my dad works in journalism. I joined Shodor because I really enjoy STEM and I want to learn more about it and how to apply it in the real world. I'm really excited to be an Apprentice!
