What is This Website For?
This website's main purpose is to showcase myself, my skills, and my time at Shodor. This personal portfolio allows me to demonstrate and show my skills or abilities to different colleges, employers, internships, programs, etc. This website consists of a short biography of mine, my weekly blogs of what I do during the Shodor meetings, and my Fall, Spring, and Summer portfolio, which has all of the projects and assignments I have completed over the course of each module.
Who Am I?
Hello all! My name is Akhil Pramod, and I am currently a freshman at Green Hope High School in Cary, North Carolina. I am passionate about many things in my life, including playing tennis, the violin, as well as volunteering in my community. In my school, I am part of Key Club, which is a group of students that volunteers at different event around the community. In addition, I am part of Cary Teen Council, which is very similar to Key Club, and I volunteer at different places in the community here as well. So far, I have volunteered for almost 100 hours in my past 4-5 years in CTC and in the past year for Key Club. For the past 8 years, I have been learning Indian Classical (Carnatic) Violin, and have been performing in various concerts around the local RTP area. Lastly, I am a very passionate tennis player, and I am a part of Junior Team Tennis (JTT) which is a league of young tennis players in this area. Each week, JTT holds practices as well as matches on the weekends. In my spare time, I love hanging out with my friends and playing video games.
I decided to become an apprentice this past year because I have always had a deep interest in anything technological from a very young age. Since my father is a computer programmer, he introduced me to simple block coding in scratch when I was around 7 years old, and I have been glued to computers ever since. After hearing about the Apprenticeship program from my parents, I knew I would be a great fit, because I wanted to put my skills into good use, and learning about computational thinking and applying it in an office-like environment would allow me to do so. My interest in technology has deepened my knowledge in the STEM field, and propelled me to joining the Shodor Apprenticeship Program.
