(+) Underlying Philosophy
-
Three levels of pedagogy:
- Resources that assist you in teaching a concept better even though they aren't actually used with a class.
- Resources that are done as demonstrations, with one computer and a projector, for the whole class to see and learn from.
- Resources that students do individually at their own pace.
-
One of our goals: to help you know when to use what resources.
-
We need to change our focus from "what is the answer" to "how many different ways can you show me?"
-
We need to use the computer to convince students that they don't need the computer.
- Except for very advanced studies of mathematics, the computer really isn't necessary.
- On the other hand, it's often very helpful in proving to students that it isn't necessary.
