Today the Succeed students worked on group projects modeling a variety of different problems and situations. Students worked in groups of four or five and used AgentSheets or NetLogo modeling programs to create a computer model and a website explaining their projects.
Students chose a variety of different fields to model. Some of the project names included Physics and Skydiving, Population Dynamics, Cellular Automata, Hybrid vs. Gas, and Biomedicine. The Students worked about half the day on their projects and then went to lunch.
After lunch the students had a teleconference with Dr. Panoff, the founder and Executive Director of the illustrious Shodor Education foundation. The Students each explained each of their projects to Dr. Panoff and gave brief interviews of how their models worked and what they were supposed to achieve. Dr. Panoff then explained to the students how their experiences in the Succeed program could help them in the future and could lead to future jobs at Shodor, or at other jobs. Afterwards students returned to work on their projects.
The students appeared to have learned a great deal in their nearly two-week stay at Shodor. They were able to create some very complex models and very comprehensive web sites.
