Day 3
At the start of the class, the students played a game that allowed them to solve a mystery by comparing physical features and DNA. After this the class watched video clips on the era in which the investigation took place. Linda then went over some historical facts relevant to the investigation gem. Next they learned about the history of Princess Anastasia and the Ancient Romanov family. They view the profile of a woman who claimed to be the lost princess named Anna Anderson. Following this Linda showed the class interviews with forensic specialist giving their take on the investigation. The students then did activities analyzing and comparing bones and teeth. They discussed DNA and genetic makeup and followed this up by a Mitochondria questionnaire. They then viewed a pedigree and did a DNA analysis. Following these activities, the students spent the duration of the class exploring the forensic site. They concluded the day by reflecting in their Moodle Journals.
