Candid Student Reports

The following reports were written by members of the Workshop on Perl Programming during the fifth day of the program. Some elements may have been removed/edited for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.

This class was very fun, alot of info!

Graeme

Today we learned about making programs. It is amazing how much you have to teach the computer! It got very confusing when we were actually typing and making a program.

Eric

Never am I going to wonder about how a computer programmes again !!!

Ben

Today we learned about how programs worked. We learned that for a computer to preform a specific task you need detailed instructions that computers can understand. We got to do a project where we tried to show a computer how to make a bagel. We learned you have to use commands computers know and understand. We also used PERL, a computer software language, to make a program that did different functions. When we finished we had a program that simulated a store. When the prices were keyed in it would put it in a stack and it would keep track of the items and then you could view all the information that was keyed in. I thought this was a very good Idea! I understood very well and they did a great job of explaining it.
