Candid Student Reports The following reports were written by members of Medicine & the Biosciences during the third day of the program. Some elements may have been removed/edited for various reasons, but the text that remains is in the student's own words.
Today, we started our projects. I think that they are harder than I thought. Sade and I are doing our project on Diabetes. There's more to diabetes than I thought. I think that it'll go great! Everything else today went great as well.
I liked working on my project. I found working independently, with help, to be an excellent way of doing things.
Today's class was a little better because most of the teaching was over and we started our projects. We each have a partner and are working together to figure out the problems we choose. Friday we will present and I can't wait to show ours off.
Today was pretty cool. We modeled aspirin in the morning using MacSpartan, and began work on our final projects in the afternoon. The freedom to work on whatever we want to is great! My partner and I had some problems with our STELLA Ebola model, but that was probably because of the data. I can't wait 'till we really start working on it tomorrow.
I enjoyed today. I felt that I learned alot . One of the things today in depth is chemistry. I enjoyed the spartan program. That was very useful. I got a good start on my project, which I think that I will enjoy doing and presenting.
Todays class was a better class that yesterday I think that I have a better understanding of what the progect is to be about and I thnk that the problem that I had yesterday is resolved. I am not sure of what we are going to do diabetes or a report on guinea worms.
This morning we made models of aspirin using the MacSpartan program, and that was interesting. Later, we started on our project, which we decided would be on Ebola. We based our STELLA model on a study, but because it was faulty info, we didn't get the results we wanted. Tomorrow we will be getting better data, so hopefully the model will produce the right results.
