How to Verify a Signature
To start out, put a sheet of tracing paper over the real and the questionable signature. Then mark one of three aspects of the letters:
- Make marks at the top of each letter, then draw lines between the marks and compare the lines (see right).
- Make marks at the bottom of each letter, then draw lines between the marks and compare the lines.
- Draw diagonal lines across each letter to determine the slant. Then compare the two sets of lines. Do the two signatures have the same slant.
