How to Verify a Signature

To start out, put a sheet of tracing paper over the real and the questionable signature. Then mark one of three aspects of the letters:

1. Make marks at the top of each letter, then draw lines between the marks and compare the lines (see right).

2. Make marks at the bottom of each letter, then draw lines between the marks and compare the lines.

3. Draw diagonal lines across each letter to determine the slant. Then compare the two sets of lines. Do the two signatures have the same slant.
