What did you learn today or this week that you're most excited about?
I learned about the different options you can use while using the textutli command like changing the font type and size. I thought it was pretty cool I made a extra few copys to mess around with and was messing around with the options on them. I learned more about Macports. Simon show me a way to calculate power usage.
Comments: Good work. Now I have to remember to sit down with you and show you how we can turn the raw info into something more usable. -James Williams Zavada
What did you do that you are most proud of?
Worked on drbd trey copy over some of the old configs from the last try and we fixed a issue we had with freeze 1 being secondary/secondary. I took apart a Imac that was dead found had thought it had a power issue though found no physical damage wanted to test the power supply in a different imac though the spare imacs in the sysadmin room were g4s while the one I was working on was Intel based. I converted the text in the inventory files I collected to UTF8 from UTF16. I added a page on the wiki for the textutli command and tagged it under sysadmin.

What have you heard about that you are hoping to learn more of?
Trey was telling me about Webm and how it is going to replace flash in alot of the browsers like Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and even Youtube since Google among others are supporting it and really pushing it. Supposedly Safari and Apple might be sticking to their mp4 format as well as IE might keep their standard from what I understood. Though with Webm change in HTML5 Trey was saying that it would produce a better video and sound quality with no impact to download and buffering speed while watching videos. I wanted to learn more with Jym I enjoyed the talk about how the different standards were place over ASCII.

Who (among Shodor staff and your peers) helped you the most? How did they help you?
Joel helped me with DRBD. Trey helped me by showing me the insides of a projector he was working on that had overheated. Simon told me about the how the network install works since I have been having issues on the test machine with the new Centos5.6 install.

Who did you help? How did you help them?
I showed Isabelle the inside of the imac having issues and she was asking the steps to test to find a issues told her it was kind of a process of elimination when you testing to see the issue. I helped Trey take out the cardboard outside and helped cleaned keyboards.
Comments: Cleaning keyboards and screens is probably one of the most boring tasks ever, so thanks a million for doing it!!!! -James Williams Zavada
