This website was almost like this website, but has a somewhat different layout, and much different colors.
This is what I use to update my blogs.

This week, my Uncle Dan and Annie Norine came down to visit us all the way from Canada. That is something to be excited about. Including yesterday, they will be here for nine days. It is nice to be able to see them again after all of these years.
This week, there was nothing that I was too particularly proud of. It seems like this was yet another rather uneventful week... Let us hope that next week will have something big that I can help out with.
This week, I did not hear of anything that I was wanting to learn more about, other than the LAN party that is taking place today.
I got quite a bit of help this week. Jenny was able to clarify on what kind of information that I needed to pull out of the SDR database. That was able to make my job quite a bit easier. I also got help from Trey, who drove me to Sigma Xi this week to help out with one of the workshops. I forget what day it was, though.
I did offer quite a large amount of help this week. I helped Jennifer pack up some items for the Modeling your World workshop. Some of the items required was paper airplanes. I made three of them for her, and it brings a smile to my face that I can, legally, bill Shodor for making paper airplanes. I also helped out Cameron, who was unable to do the documentation at Sigma Xi for one day. I also helped out Jenny by getting the required information that she needed to get out of the SDR database. Last Friday made me sweet because I was so afraid that I would mess up when working with it.

This week, I went to the ball game on the 4th of July. We got rained out, so the game was moved to the fifth. It was USA vs. Japan. I was cheering for Japan, but they lost by one point. The fireworks display, afterward, was really fun to watch. Other than that, there is not that much I am too excited about.
I am proud that I was able to get NCSI working... Again. Dr. Panoff needed all surveys, for a particular workshop, to be displayed along with what users did it, and on what date. It was a mess, but in the end, I was able to come up with a solution. The first solution that I made, however, caused too many problems, and had to be thrown away.
I hope to learn more about MYSQL queries. This Friday, I had to use quite a few of them to get some data into a file. Needless to say, it caused problems that could have been avoided if I knew MYSQL a bit better. Exporting data from MYSQL is something new to me, and I already understand how to use it to my advantage.
I got some help this week. Joel was able to provide assistance with me on various tasks. Patricia was able to help me to get the scanner/printer to work that way that I needed it to. Other than that, I can not seem to recall who else helped me...
I helped a few people this week. I am helping Jenny with some MYSQL output. I have also helped Jennifer with various tasks that needed to be done for the upcoming workshops. I also am making a wiki page stating what interns have what skills. This was done from the request of Jennifer - it is sure to come in handy for the office - that is, if they know that it exists.

This week, I learned that I will have the change to go to West Virgina to help shoulder-surf for a workshop. Not will it only give me a chance to get away from home, it will give me an opportunity to see a change of scenery.
I am proud that I was able to get the statistics page for the SUCCEED site done. It is Angie's project, but I had to do it so that I can guide her through the steps as to how to do it. She has come a long way, and I hope that she can further her understanding and use of SMODEL2.
I was able to sit in on a telephone conference with Joel about the HPCU site, and what needed to be done. I am going to be inheriting (fully or partially I am still not sure,) someone's project. I would like to get some more details about what needs to be done so that I can start on it, after I am completely done with the SUCCEED statistics page, of course.
Jenny proved to be the most help to me this week. On Monday, an issue arose concerning my ride home. No one was answering the phone so that they knew I had to be picked up. Jenny offered to drive me back home. It was out of the way for her, but she was glad to do it.
I would say that I helped Neal and Sam the most this week, Ron as well. I was able to help Neal finish his ODAA, and I can understand why he wanted someone else to help him. The work was tedious and long. I have helped Sam with the Math Flyer. I am currently doing quite a bit of Quality Assurance, and I have already found about eight minor bugs that need to be fixed. I also helped Ron by cutting wires and stripping the ends off of them. That ODAA has left a few marks on my left index finger that hurt for quite some time.

This week, I learned that I will be helping Angelina Wu with making a statistics tool for SUCCEED. Not only am I looking forward to teaching Angelina about SMODEL2 and PHP, I am also happy to be returning to an old project. This week, I also learned that my fifth grade teacher, Mr. Louis, is now working here as an intern. It sure is a small world.
This week, I was able to bring terminal to its knees. Although it is nothing much, I just somewhat enjoy the fact that I completely ruined the functionality of my terminal window with just one line of code.
One thing that I hope to learn more about is grep. It peeked my interest when I was using it, and I made terminal no longer function. I also hope to hear more news about how well the Shodor Math Flyer sells. Other than that, there is not that much that I heard about that I look forward to.
I got quite a bit of help from Izzy. This week, we both taught the HTML5 and CSS3 class. It was easy on me because Izzy was here to help me, rather than me teaching the entire class by myself like what was originally planned. I do not like being the center of attention, so it was a relief.
I gave quite a bit of help this week. I helped with teaching a part of the HTML5 and CSS3 workshop with Izzy. I also helped quite a few of the workshop students, either by helping them understand a concept, or making them up to speed.

This week, I got to delve into some CSS3. Not only did I see some of the exciting features that it had to offer, such as animations, I also redid my website. Some other exciting news is that there will be a workshop, in two weeks, near the beach. It seems like it would be quite a bit of fun.
I am proud of the fact that I was able to redo my website with a design that was within taste. Seeing as how my other styles were so bad, something this good of a quality coming from me is quite unexpected.
There was not that much I heard about this week that I am looking forward to, other than the HTML and CSS workshop that I will be teaching along with Izzy.
I got a lot of help this week. Jenny was able to help me with the CSS for my website. There were some problems that I could not figure out, but she was able to. I also got help from Rachel regarding the layout and colors for my website.
I would say that I gave the most help to Izzy this week. The two of us have been working on a lesson plan for the HTML and CSS workshops. I can only hope that we have enough material to cover for six hours.

It has been quite some time since I had to do a weekly reflection. This was the first week, this year, that I came to Shodor. I was quite happy to be able to get a summer job here, again, since I will be needing the money that I make for university. I learned that I will be helping to teach the HTML workshop which is coming up in a few week's time. I was happy to met the new staff and interns here at Shodor, but I was also a bit disappointed about some of the staff leaving, such as Simon - it will not be quite the same without him.
I am quite happy that I seemed to have retained a majority of my PHP, MYSQL, and debugging skills, even though I rarely used them since I last was at Shodor. I am have also seen some work done on the SUCCEED pages, the project that I helped to start. To me, I feel proud of it - I see it being worked on, improved, and expanded upon. The SUCCEED project is like a child to me. I hope that I can start other project like the SUCCEED one, and see it grow and mature as well.
There is quite a bit that I heard about. I learned that Shodor will be moving to a new building by the end of this summer. I have so may questions - where is it, will Shodor own it, and not be renting it, is it bigger than the one half of the 11th floor in the Durham center that we currently are using? I also did some Q and A on the Shodor graph applet. I am quite curious about what the future will hold for it.
I got quite a bit of help this week. Paul, a fellow intern (and a new one), proof read an HTML cheat sheet that I wrote, which will be given to the HTML workshop students. Jenny helped understand metadata, so that I will have a better understanding of the HPCU website, which I will (maybe) do some work on. Joel was able to provide me with data, information, and accounts so that I could work on the projects that I was assigned.
I helped quite a bit. I was able to defrost two of Shodor's freezers, and I even cleaned out the microwave in the break room (some stuff was really baked onto the sides - it was a mess). I have done quite a bit of ODAA as well - mostly for Ernie, though.

Well, this week was my last week at Shodor for the summer! I can now rest at home. Nothing that much seemed to have happened this week...
This week, I was able to, at long last, have a project that I started/thought of months ago, done at last. Now my webpage gets my reflection entries from a database! Now both of my websites will be updated. (I have another website with a different CSS file.)
I have not heard of anything that excites me.
Fitz was of great help. With his help, we were able to get the final (I hope) code for the Main site working!
I was also providing Fitz help - earlier, we had some files conflicting. We were able to determine the needed changes together.
I was also providing Fitz help - earlier, we had some files conflicting. We were able to determine the needed changes together.
This week, I did not learn anything. I have mostly been working with old things.
This week, I found a major flaw with the current SUCCEED database. Right now, when you update the workshops that an applicant is in, everything in the Payment table relating to that applicant is deleted... I am glad that I caught it - if this had hit the live, Shodor would have been in deep legal trouble for deleting payment records. This is probably my proudest for all of this week.
Sadly enough, I have not heard of anything new this week, therefore I am no hoping to learn more of something.
Hmm... It has been a long week, and I can not remember is someone did help me or not... Chances are that I was helped in some small way, but I just can not remember.
I helped almost all of the apprentices this week with their projects. Natasha now has a much better understanding of PHP and SMODEL2. I was able to give her hints on how to write her code, and she was able to do so. I have helped quite a few others, if not all of the groups with their projects.
This week, my mentor, Ernie, gave me a huge responsibility! I am now in charge of all of the apprentices, and I also have to make sure that they get their project done! What an honor! Their project is the very same project that I worked on a year ago - the SUCCEED pages. Ah... I brings back memories.
I would say that I did a good job as an instructor this week. I also am proud that I seem to have become a better de-buger. I have became quite efficient that I seem to be able to fix my code, whilst a year ago, it might have taken me all day! I have come a long way.
I hope to learn more about SVN. I seem to have quite a few strange errors occur when I have my apprentices use it. I wish that I knew a few more SVN commands so that I can resolve these strange errors.
I got quite a bit of help this week. First, Kaytren helped me help my apprentices. Some code was refusing to work. She worked diligently and found out that the problem was because I built the models incorrectly. There was quite a bit going on this week, so I can not remember everything...
I helped quite a few people this week. I mostly helped my apprentices with their projects. Ugh... There were some strange errors..
When I heard about the night of fun on Friday, one thing to mind - Munchkin. I thought that I should bring it, not only because I love it, but because it is easy to play and it is loads of fun. Other than this, there is nothing more that I was very excited about.
I think that I can say that my about pages are virtually done. For the past few weeks, I have been working hard on it, inputting information and bettering my tools. A few last minute changes might show up, but it should not be something that I am unable to handle.
I have not heard too much of anything this week that I hope to learn more of. I have been/am helping with the reflection tools, and it seems to me hat data from the database is being put onto the page by a method that I can not seem to understand.
I got a boat load of help this week. First, Dayyan helped me put a search bar into my about page. It is a feature that is very handy, and after looking at the code Dayyan put in, it seems as if it might have been too complex for me to make by myself. Fitz also was of great help. I was converting my project, from git, to svn. Fitz wrote a bash command that helped to convert all of the directories in my project.
Lucy had a problem - she needed to write two pages of a tutorial, but she needed motivation. I then provided an effective, and cruel, form of motivation. With her consent, I took away her cellphone, and refused to give it back to her until lunch. It was an effective way to motivate he.
I mostly worked with old things this week, but I did learn some function for having my PHP files interact with SNAP2. I found this to be a very useful feature, as it made uploading people's information a lot easier on my part, and perhaps the future user(s) of this tool. Ernie has told me of some things that he wanted to see my code do which I doubt that I have the knowledge to do - this might not be the case in the future.
I am proud that I was able to get a majority of my project done this week. It was hard and tedious work, but I was able to prevail. I mostly need to do some quality assurance on it later next week, but I might also have a few of my colleagues to help me out. It should not be that hard to test, but it still needs to be done.
I somewhat hope to learn more about SNAP2. It would be great if I was able to get my project more automated and more user friendly, but I do not have the knowledge of the current functions as of yet.
I got quiet of help this week. Luke, for one, was able to help me with some login issues. He helped to point out where I needed to make changes to get it to work, and my code then functioned correctly. Other than this, I do not seem to recall others helping me.
I helped quite a bit of people this week with FireFox. People have been getting an error from FireFox saying that it can not access its bookmarks because it is in use by another program. Simon did help me fix it, at one point, and because of that, I am able to help others now with the same problem.
I have learned many things this week. I would say that the reason is because I am starting to work eight hour days. I have learned various commands for SMODEL2 and even commands to have my PHP files interact with SNAP2. I even relearned Agent Sheets. I had to do this because on Thursday, I was going to teach a class. Needless to say, I had a great time teaching, and the students love me.
There were quite a few accomplishments that I have made this week that I am quite proud of. For one, I was able to debug my code of some rather sly errors. Because I was able to identify the origin of the bug, I was able to track it down. I was then able to fix the errors with ease. Dyan was also a big help.
I have went through a lot of old materials this week. The only new thing that I was exposed to was having my PHP interact with SNAP2. It was hard for me to get it to work, seeing that I had an error in the setup of my code.
Dyan was of great help on epic amounts to me this week. I was unable to load pictures from SNAP2. Dyan found out why I was unable to do so, even with the correct code. It turns out that I set up some of my code wrong. After the code was property set up, I was able to get the code to load SNAP2 pictures.
I would say that I provided a lot of help for Darian. There were a lot of openings for ODAA that needed to be filled, and I have volunteered to fill in those holes. I would say that this has helped ease her mind a bit, seeing that she does not have to worry about these openings.
This week, I did nothing new. I was working with old materials for the majority of my day.
I guess that I could say that I am proud that I was able to improve the efficiency of the database. I found a problem that would have resulted in having to put in redundant information into the database; with a compromise that Ernie and I made, we found a way to get rid of that redundancy.
I did not learn anything to this week to be honest. I do, however, wish to learn more about SNAP2. I just find it so interesting to use.
I helped quite a few people this day. I did help Neal out with his MYSQL code; since he missed the MYSQL classes, I was able to offer him some aid. I also did help Shodor out by improving the efficiency of the database that I was working on; with the modifications that I made, it will take up less space.
Ernie was able to prove quite the aid. He helped me to modify the database to work better. Other than this, I did not get that much aid.
This week, I helped out with the workshops. While doing so, I learned a bit of PHP interaction with MYSQL. I am excited about this because I will be able to use it for my own website. Instead of copying and pasting new journal entries, I can just send my stuff to a database.
I am proud of the fact that I was able to get quite a bit of my code, for my blogs, done. This will make things so much easier on me.
I hope to learn more of PHP interaction with MYSQL. Perhaps I will be able to make my website more database oriented; it might not look very nice, but the code behind it will be complex.
I got help from Ernie. He was able to show me some code so that I could get started on my own person project. Because of this, my code is a lot more neater rather if I were to try to learn everything by myself.
I helped out Ernie with the class today. I was basically Ernie's right hand; I was able to input more information into the class's database when he asked for me to, and even to write the ER Diagram for the class.
This week, I never really heard of anything that I am excited to hear about. This week, I was helping out Monte's class, and I also finished/worked on another part of my project.
This week, I was able to help Monte's class; they were going over MYSQL this time. I found it to be fun, and I really helped as well.
I hope to learn more about MYSQL. Since I am working with it a lot, learning more commands would be very useful. I already made a bit of a mess when helping out, luckily, I was able to fix it.
Monte helped me to help him. I was unable to connect to a database. He suggested logging in a different way; it turns out that he was giving me the name of a nonexistent database.
I helped out Monte. He was teaching a MYSQL class, and I made some tables for him with information for his class. I found doing so fun because I got to test my MTSQL knowledge.
This week, I explored SNAP2's abilities to bulk upload. This effectively finished my tedious task in a significantly shorter amount of time. I was really happy about this, and I hope to learn more of the useful things that SNAP2 can do.
I did a task that was supposed to last over the course of a few weeks (maybe a total of five Saturdays) in just two mere Saturdays. I used the bulk up-loader feature on SNAP2. Because I was now done with my work, I was able to help out in the apprentice class.
I have not really heard anything this week that I am hoping to learn more of.
Valerie was of help to me when I could not help a student. I was a shoulder surfer, helping apprentices grasp PHP.
Because I was done with my SNAP2 work so early, I became a shoulder surfer for the apprentice class that was going on. I helped to answer questions that apprentices had, and I even helped Valerie out.
This week, I learned that my project might need a huge makeover. It turns out that, if recall correctly, that it needs to be more dynamic; it was not a error on my part, though. I have to upload a load of photos into SNAP2; it will be a very tedious task.
I did not do that much this week to be proud. I was mostly diligently working on my new task.
I have not heard of anything this week that I am hoping to learn more about. I do look forward, however, to the new reconfigured project. I hope to get these photos done (maybe two more Saturdays just to finish uploading the interns alone) that I will be able to tackle the first bit of the new project.
Ernie was a huge help. I needed some privileges for me to even start to muck around in SNAP2. Ernie was able to give me the privileges that I needed.
I helped out some of the staff today. I watched the workshop kids while they were on break. Other than that, I did not do much of anything else to help out.
I did not learn that much this week. I did, however, learn a bit more about how to make it so that a person has to enter his or her password to log in. This is wonderful, as my project requires such a thing. The sad news, however, is that I have no clue how to allow a person to log out... I will also need a bit of help to figure out how to identify if someone is logged in or not.
Well, I would have been more proud of myself if I was able to fix every last problem that I encountered today by myself. I did a bit of debugging, such as having a value that was set appear to be set. Other bugs that I had were a bit strange; one being that a person could be identified as an apprentice, intern, and even a staff member all at once... I am glad that I got that headache done and over with.
I hope to learn a bit more about logging in. I find it a bit of a mystery still. The file that I am using, even when you are logged in, still has the page asking for one to be logged in when she or he is already logged in... This bug, frankly, amuses me.
Katrine was a wonderful help to me today. I was scratching my head as to figure out how to get this command to work the way I wanted it to. I needed to pull, from my database, people who had either one of these two values that I was working with. Katrine provided her assistance, and helped me fix my code.
I helped to look after students today. I was watching them while they were on their snack and lunch breaks. Other than that, I did not help that much.
I have not learned anything new this week that I am excited about.
This week, I was quite a bit rundown when I came in. I am proud that I was able to help teach an HTML class, even though I looked and felt horrible.
I have not heard of anything that I am hoping to learn more about; Shodor related at the least.
I did not require help this week.
This week, I was able to help out in an HTML class. I was a shoulder surfer in the class. I was able to help the students with his or her language.
This week, even though it is not Shodor related, is that it snowed in all of the states except for Hawaii! Imagine that! I am quite excited about this; there is so much snow! Now, onto Shodor related things. This week, I have learned to debug my own code more effectively. I learned how to read the DeBug messages that are related to my database! I am quite excited about this; this means that I will be able to pull my own weight around even more!
I would like to think that I was able to solve some strange errors. I was able to make major progress on my project, but then it gridded to a halt on account of a few things... For one, I am not sure how to call a picture from our SNAP2 database. Another thing that I am having trouble with is this error that I keep getting... I can not seem to think of any ideas as to how I should go about fixing it.
I have not heard of anything from others that I am hoping to learn more of; Shodor related things anyways.
I would say that I was of no help this week... For one, I was working home this week.
I am not sure if I did get any help from other this week.
I learned quite a few new exciting things; I worked on projects that required me to make a writeup. One of them was for the March Newsletter; I had to talk about, and promote, the workshops that Shodor would be offering over the summer. I also had to make a writeup for Ernie, who would give it to Dr. Panoff, how Shodor influenced my life. I am a bit surprised that I have been working on these things for about two hours, and considering the importance of the writeup for the newsletter, I might be working on it for another hour. It still needs to be proofread, and I plan to have it proofread more than twice.
I wrote up a document that was going to be used in the Shodor New letter. I was happy that I was able to do it in such a short amount of time as well. Because of my scheduling issues, I had only one day to work on it. I was still able to get it fully done and done correctly.
Since today was mostly dealing with words and proofreading, I did not hear of anything that I hope to learn more about.
I had help from many people today. Sidhartha was able to help me with my writeup for the Shodor Summer Workshops. He was able to provide input that exceeded my expectations and needs. I regret that I can not use every last bit of information that he gave me. Jon Guneson, a current workshop students, also was able to provide input that helped me to finish my writeup. Ernie also proofread my work, which was a big help to me.
I was able to help Shodor this week by writing that Shodor summer newsletter. I also helped Dr. Panoff with my writeup on how Shodor helped me as a person.
I have learned many things this week. I have now learned quite a bit more of SMODEL2! I also learned how to start and use my own form builder code. That will come in so handy in the future for me.
I did quite a few things this week that I was proud of, but Valerie was a big help. For one, I was able to take massive leaps in my current project; however, I would have not been able to without the help of Valerie. I am now able to create new people and have them stored in the database.
I hope to learn more of SMODEL2. It was a huge help when I wanted to do a rather, in my opinion, complex function. I also hope to learn more about how to create and use form builders; I find them to be tons of fun.
Hands down, Valerie was the biggest help to me this week. Valerie has helped me multiple times. At first, a function of mine (getListMulti) was not working at all. For some reason, I could not pull information out of my database with it. Valerie pointed out that I was not naming my fields correctly. This was a huge help, and allowed me to move onto building the forms to create and edit people. Valerie help me again. She pushed me in the right direction as to how to build the form itself, but then there were problems in trying to get the form to work. After Valerie and I fiddled around with the code, the form works!
I do not think that I helped anyone this week.
This week, I did not learn anything new. I mostly tried to get my code, for my project, to work, but that proved to be an impossible task. I will have to get Valerie to help me with my SMODEL2.
I did, along with trying to fix my code, testing for the "A Better Fire!!" applet. I found several errors in the applet so far. I seem to get the feeling that one of the errors that I found always was in the applet.
I hope to learn more about SMODEL2. I would love to figure out why my code is not working... It s a shame that I am unable to fix it.
Selene put in great effort to help me with my code this week. Even though she did not know that much about SMODEL2, she still tried to help me out.
This week, I did some ODAA for Jenny. It was to test out the "A Better Fire!!" applet. Other than that, I did not provide that much help this week.
This week, I started to use SMODEL2 once again. I am quite excited about this because it is something that I feel very comfortable with and it is something that I do wish to learn more about. I was having trouble, though, this week with it. It seems that, since I have not used it for a very long time, that I am a bit rusty. I had to often refer back to my Succeed Applicant project to figure out how to use certain things in it.
This week, I would say that I am proud of the fact that I was able to work on my project while I was at home. Through the use of Putty, I was working on my Shodor files while at home.
I still wish to learn/relearn more SMODEL2. I love using it, but I still do not know everything that there is to it. I would also love to learn more about PageRender2 since I have been using it a bit; the reason that I wish to learn more about it is because that I am working with it about as much as I am with SMODEL2.
I would say that, out of this week, that Luke and Kaitrin was the biggest help of them all. I had trouble with my .htaccess file, and Luke was able to provide answers for me. I also had trouble trying to log into my MYSQL database via Putty; Luke was able to help me here as well. Kaitrin also helped me, yet again, in making my main site appear, and not just as a barrage of errors.
I seemed to have provided no help this week, mostly because I was working on my project at home.
I have learned a lot this week that I have quite an interest in. I have learned how to set up PageRender2 and SMODEL2 as well, which is something that I wanted to learn for quite some time.
I did do something, with the help of Kaitrin, that I was very proud of. Last week, Luke and I were trying to get the main site to work in my newdev-git folder. Two days ago (Thursday 09/12/10), Kaitrin helped me set up the main site via an instant messenger. I was also able to set up the main site a bit with PageRender2.
I hope to learn more about PageRender2 along with SMODEL2. I find both of these tools to be great fun to use and easy as well. I also hope to learn more about the main site, seeing that it is basically an enigma and hard to use. If I could understand it, it would make my life so much easier.
Hands down, Kaitrin was the biggest help. On Thursday (09/12/10), I had a meeting with Kaitrin through an instant messenger. I needed help setting up my main site in my newdev-git folder. Previously, the main site seemed to be unresponsive to any changes that we made. The main site mostly works now; the pictures on it do not seem to be showing up at all.
I mostly helped Ernie this week. I tried to help him set up his main site in his newdev-git folder, but it still did not work. I tried to use the commands that Kaitrin told me to do, but that still seemed to have not help. Ernie is getting class errors currently.
I did not really learn anything new this week that I am excited about, except for some of the ODAA that might be given out. I also learned about MAIN, but I had no clue as to how to set it up. I learned that it was a bit of a mess and troublesome.
I was able to finish more of my AIS project. I set up the tables inside of the database today so that it can store information. I hope to set up PageRender2 by next week so that I can start to display the infomation.
I hope to learn a bit more about MAIN. It might be a mess, but it will become useful in the future; I need to learn how to set up PageRender2 by myself, so this should come in handy (if it can be done that is).
Luke was of great help. He was able to start me on setting up MAIN inside of my newdev-git folder. Since he was having trouble, Ernie then started to help me with it. His help should help Luke later if he were to help me again.
I did not really do anything to help anyone today. I did a bit of ODAA today by helping cleaning up the conference room.
I have learned that there is a very good chance that my HLD for the AIS about pages will be approved. I can not wait to start to work on it. It has been two weeks already and I hope to be able to get the PageRender2 stuff set up so that I can start the SMODEL2 work. I love working with SMODEL2 and just can not wait to use it. Jason was also helpful in giving me idea how to lay out the page.
There was nothing really that significant that I did today. I mostly worked on Luke's OL and found strange errors. I hope that Luke can fix them. I also did a bit more work on my HLD. I was able to make the diagrams using Inkscape; I found it quite easym but using Graffle would have been better.
I hope to learn more about PageRender2. Since it was not set up for the project already, I will have to work with it from the beginning. As I usually state, I hope to learn more about SMODEL2. I find it to be so much fun. Lets hope that the same goes for PageRender2.
I had quite a bit of help from a few staff. For one, Matt was able to help me show which project to bill my time to. Jason was also helpful by showing me how to start to set up PageRender2. Jennifer was also helpful. Both Jennifer and Jason took a look at my HLD.
I would say that I did not help anyone today. The only thing that I did was helping Luke. I was testing his OL. I hope that I can help him more. I found it fun to test his work.
I learned quite a bit on 2009-11-14. I relearned how to do a HLD, and even an ER diagram. I also read up a bit on XML. I found XML to be interesting. The only thing I wonder is how one defines his or her tags.
I did not do that much. All I really did was work on the planning of the project that I was assigned. I guess that I was proud, though, that I was able to get my MYQSL database diagram written in Inkscape. It was a bit of a pain, but I'm glad that I learned how to do it. It should come useful in later dates.
I hope to learn more about SMODEL2. I am going to be required to use it on the project that I was given. I find it to be a fun tool to use, and very easy. I hope to learn more about the project as well. I really want to be able to think up of a good layout for the web page that it is going to be on.
I think that I only got help from Ernie. He was able to show me the errors that I made in my HLD. He even started to explain to me some errors that were occurring in the Application Database that I helped to create in the summer of 2009. I found that to be quite helpful. Perhaps those errors will come to mind when I work on this project so that it functions better.
I never really helped anyone this week. If anything, I was given almost nothing but help. I did, however, remind Krista to do her reflections. It was small, but it was help... Perhaps I can be a bit more helpful in the future.
I didn't really learn that much this week... I mostly worked on my code... I did learn, however, that it was possible for me to have my unix commands play a sound when I used them! I hope to learn how to do that in the future! I also hope to learn more SModel2; I seem to be getting good with it.
I'm proud that I was able to get our project done at last! There were quite a bit of requests for how the webpage to be set up and how it worked. I'm glad that I was able to do them all, and was able to add a few of my own touches as well. I'm also proud of the fact that many people liked my Keylime Pie minitarts at the potluck. It shows that I can be a great cook!
Like I stated before, I hoping to learn more of SModel2 and how to get my unix commands to play a sound when I use them. It would seem to be fun when I changed my directory that paper being rustled was sounded. I also hope to learn more about SModel2; I seem to enjoy using it. I find it to be quite enjoyable to program in it, not sure why, but it is. I'm also hoping to learn more about what we will be doing next summer!
I got quite a bit of help from Valerie and Ernie again. Valerie showed me how to make my .htaccess to store a get variable. Ernie also helped to make my code work more properly, like it won't accept negative numbers for scholarships. I would also say that Joel helped as well; when my archive page seemed to get a lot of errors, he fixed the common and they disappeared, except for two which involved Dayyon trying to help me. Jayson also helped me by showing me how to start to make a PDF file, though I was never really able to finish it.
I would say that I helped my group. I helped to present, and I helped to fix up the code. I think that is about as much as I really did this week... Maybe next summer I would be of more help. But, I guess I was good at helping when, and if, I did it.
I really did not learn new things this week. I learned a bit about Deafstem, so that was kinda neat. I also saw a PHP file that Hun made. It translated HTML to XML. that was really neat; it also closed tags left opened.
Well, I did Q and A on deafstem. That seemed to have taken a shorter amount of time that it should have. I also seemed to have remembered what internet is in sign language; I'm not one to really remember things. I also fixed up my games, and put them into a directory called games. I also debugged my guess the number game.
I don't think that I have learned anything that I'm excited about this week... I guess i would like to learn more about PHP... Nothing else really... Although, it is kinda neat the way Hun was able to make that HTML to XML code. I wonder if it would be possible to do a PHP to Perl...
I would say that I got a lot of help from Valerie, Hun, and Sandy this week. Sandy was able answer a lot of my questions concerning deafstem. Hun also helped me help him to convert HTML to XML. Valerie also helped Yili and I with the last bit of out Succeed project. That was kinda interesting.
I helped Hun and his group. I also helped Yili a bit. I helped Yili a tad with the Succeed page, but not as much as Valerie is right now, and has today. I was helping Hun convert HTML to XML. I guess that I also helped Valerie with a broken plate and cup.
I have learned a lot more things this week. Although, it was basically on the same things. I did, however, hear of the upcoming forensics workshop! I volunteered to be a suspect in it! It seems like it is a very interesting workshop!
I did quite a few things this week. For one, I got the payment system in out project to work! I even got a working receipt as well! It seemed to have been a little difficult, but I seemed to have managed. I'll be glad when I can get a particular table here to work... It has the column names as the workshops, and if an applicant is in it, the price of the workshop shows up, else, it comes up as zero.
I'm kind of hoping to learn more about that upcoming forensics workshop. It seems to be very neat. Other than that, I really didn't learn about anything else... I hope to get my project to work though... I'm having a bit of trouble with this part...
I have to say that it was Valerie, Johnathan, Joel and Dayyan. Everyone was a ton of help. Joel and Johnathan helped to make my receipt look very nice on paper. Dayyan helped with getting ids out of databases... And Valerie helped with things that I didn't understand. Everyone was very helpful.
Well... I helped Yili with the project. I did my part, and a bit of debugging. I even fixed the forum builder. I'm not sure if I could say that I helped more than that. I did nothing more than that really...
Well, I learned a bit out Blender this week! William needed to test teach someone, and I was chosen. I found it to be a very neat program. I also learned a bit more PHP! I was quite happy, it will help to keep my future PHP files more secure.
I think that that I did a few things that I'm proud of! I was able to make the webpage a bit more secure, thanks to Dayyan's help. I even was able to make it so that I could edit an applicant's information, with some help though, I think... I also was able to get a bit done with the project again... Though I'm so close to finishing it, yet so far...
Oh, nothing really... I'd like to learn more PHP,,, And perhaps more SModel... I, although, would like to learn how to get the PHP file I'm working on to work... It seems as though that I will input a lot more test information before I get the thing to work...
I got a lot of help from a lot of people. I got help from Dayyan, he helped to make the site more secure. Valerie was a great help again, as usual. Jonathon was also a big help! But, then again, Jonathon also made two messes ... Including having me inform everyone of something that was supposed to help, but had a big security hole in it...
Well... I helped my group! I did my part I would say. I'm not sure if I helped that much this week... I seem to be busy getting help from Valerie though... I really need it so I can get our project to work.
I did a lot of things that I found exciting! I learned more SModel, which seems very useful! I really enjoy using it, it takes a lot of the hard work out of programing! I also found a strange error in Succeed. It was dealing with the login, It showed me logged in as "."...
I was proud of many things this week! Within two days, Yili and I both made so much progress with our programs! We were also early into the programming. I'm also proud of the fact that I was able to do a few things on my own without Valerie's help... I often really needed her help.
I hope to learn a lot more things! I would like to learn more SModel. I find it so useful and so neat. I hope to be able to use it more in the future... I find it neat to program with it, as I seem to find objects neat!
I got a lot of help this week. For one, Valerie was a huge help to me! She was able to tell me all the things that I needed to do, and was able to give me pointers to get into the right direction. Sandy was also a help. When I wanted to see the SSP presentations, he covered the reception desk for me.
I'm not sure if I helped that much this week. I helped Yili a bit though. He had a few questions, and I was able to help him. It was not that much I guess... Perhaps I could help more next time.
I learned quite a few new things in this week. For one, I'm starting to learn how to make PHP interact with databases! I even learned how to make rollovers in Javascript... I even learned how Johnathan has a hatred for Plone! I've also learned how to input information into a table within databases, although I might have already known that...
I've learned quite a few things with PHP. I've learned how to open a database in it, and how to close it. I also learned how to put information from a database into an array. I still need to learn how to put it into tables, or just get around to it. I also learned how to make a picture change when I pressed down on it.
I hope to learn more about PHP. I really enjoy programing in it, and I seem to just get it. I also hope to learn more MYSQL. It seems to bit a bit fussy at first, but I think that I might be getting the hang of it. I also hope to learn more about GimpShop; I use it to make banners on my website, and I hope to learn how to use more of the filters that I use to make the banners.
A lot of people helped me this week. Valerie, for one, was a very big help in correcting our database. Johnathan was also helpful in sending in corrections for our HLD document. Johnathan also helped with my JavaScript. I had trouble making my rollovers work... He pointed out a spelling error I had in my code that made it broken...
I think that I was a big help this week. I helped out a few people in the web design workshop, and I seemed to have enjoyed doing so. I even helped out my group mates. I helped by doing the coding to create the tables in the database. Other than that, I can't seem to recall helping out anyone else, or it is just not big enough to talk about.
I learned about a few new things in PHP. I learned about foreach loops, and found them to be very useful. I have even learned about how to use PHP to place content onto my webpage, even though it is in a different file! I also know that we are going to be going over functions later. I already know a bit about them; however, I would like to learn more about them.
I was proud of a few things today. The biggest thing was that I already knew a lot about PHP before I came to today's class. I also came last week, and stayed a bit in the class that was being taught. This allowed me to get a head start in functions, which I seemed to have picked up very fast. I can't wait to show how much I know about them later today.
There are so many things I heard about that I want to learn. For one thing, I know that I'm going to be learning more about functions. I just find them so fascinating; I just seem to love the idea to write my own command. Since I attended a bit to last week's class, I know that I will enjoy learning it all over again. This will also help me with some of the areas about functions that I'm not too sure about; that area is almost nonexistent!
I would have to say that Valerie helped me a lot today. I know that I might be getting much help from Joel with my PHP today though, as I already know quite a bit about today's lessen. He did, however, show me some other programing languages... Some of the languages were just so hard that it was insane and useless... One of the languages were so complex, that the "Hello World" program was hardly readable...
I'm not sure that if I helped anyone at all today... I did show Hun where I got my bottles of water though. I'm also sure that I might be able to help Joel with today's lessen. Since I already know functions, I might be able to help with today's lessen. I hope that I will be able to help more people next week.
I did not really learn anything new. All that I did was review PHP. We went over the functions print, substr, strlen, strrlen, Ect... The last two, I never really used. I think that I will really have no use for them.
I really didn't learn anything new. I am proud of, however, that I already knew PHP. I already knew how to do all of the problems that we were assigned to do. I'm even proud of the fact that I showed up today. I have a rather bad cold, and now have laryngitis.
I do hope to learn more about PHP. I find it to be a lot of fun, and maybe I will get to learn some functions that will help to improve my own projects. I still hope that we will learn more about Perl, as I still have a great fondness for it. I think that I could stand to learn more about arrays. We are going to be learning more about them later today.
I would say that Ismael helped the most. He didn't, however, help me that much. I just had some questions that I wanted answered. I never really have that many big problems that I need help with. I guess that I never really forgot what I learned since last time I was here
I really didn't help anyone. If anything, I helped them catch the cold that I have. If I were to help someone again, I sure hope not to help them get sick. I hope to help them with some question that they have. I don't think that I have helped anymore for quite some time.
I was not extremely excited about this week's lesson. We went over VV and A, also QA. I found it to be somewhat interesting though, I kinda liked the process of how things go through QA. I was also already quite familiar with QA, but not that much in VV and A. I knew a little about VV and A, but just not the structure of it.
During the class, we had to make a website go through QA. I did my prime number checker, and found an area which made it improve! I found a way to make it go twice as fast when checking a number if it is prime or composite. I somewhat think that QA is used for more of improving a website. I'm very glad that I got my prime number checker to work much faster, as I had trouble trying to do the same thing before.
Well, I did hear that we might go over Perl next year! I'm very excited about that, as I find it so much fun! I also hear that we are going to go over more php, and I'm excited about that too, as I find php and Perl to be very similar. I also, somewhat, want to go back over VV and A, as it could be useful to me in the future. Other people, when trying to put a website through QA, tried to find bugs, then they presented them! I found that to be a lot of fun.
I was not really helped that much. Yili was supposed to give me his step by step tutorial on NetLogo today, but it didn't help that he failed to do so. Patrica was a big help though! She was always able to answer the questions that I had. During the next class, I'll be sure to ask more questions.
I never really helped anyone at all today. If at all, I helped out my group while we put my prime number checker though QA. It was, I would think, really helpful to me, as I was able to fix a speed issue with it. I would also think that I helped Patrica. I was able to answer questions during class; however, I think that I answered a few too many.
I have learned about Software Development Process today. We learned about what it is for, and some different ways how to follow it. I found it very neat, and it was something that I have never even, or knew about! I do think that some day, it will come in handy. Also, I hope to learn more about SNAP2, because I have been using it today.
I didn't really do anything today that I'm very proud of. I did learn, however, about something that I found very confusing. We learned a lot of the terms used in that Software Development Process, such as models. I kept thinking that the models was the thing being made, but it was how the process of making it was carried out. I some what hope to learn more about Software Development Process because I need to work on mine.
I hope to learn about many things. Like Software Development Process as said earlier. I also hope to learn more about PHP, because I have been using a lot of it as well. I seem to have a likeness for it as I do for Pearl. I hope to also learn more about NetLogo, as I had to be dealing with it a lot as well.
I had so much help today by so many people. Johnathan was a huge help, he helped to explain some of the terms used in the Software Development Process. Bethany was also a huge help by answering some on my questions. Andrew was also an enormous help. He uploaded the reference tool handout for the NetLogo project.
I don't think that I helped anyone today. If at all, I helped Yili with the essay that we did during class. I also explained what the task was for our project. I also helped to contribute ideas during the class activity as well. I hope to be able to help more in the future!
I have learned many things. Today, I learned about SNAP2. I also found out that if I have one piece of content on, say, twenty pages, I could just edit that content, if it is on SNAP2, and it will update it on all pages! I hope to learn more things that it can do.
I don't think that I did that much today. All I did was to offer, and did, clean the black bored. It was very messy, but I was able to do it. I also fixed up my guessing game, and prime number checker! I like to think of those as my pride and joy.
I do hope to learn more about SNAP2, as said earlier. I seem to find it as a very powerful tool to use. I, however, would have to learn more about XML, which I'm no good at. I guess that I'm hoping to learn more about XML, but only so I can use SNAP2 more effectively. I also hope to learn more about PHP, as I am starting to write in it a bit more, even think in it!
I was helped quite a bit today. Monty helped me to fix a little bug on my guessing game! Kaitrin also helped me a bit as well. She helped me with some questions that I had. I would think that Ernie helped me as well concerning a past project.
I don't think that I helped anyone at all. I did, however, help someone to fall over... We were doing a funny picture, and I fell... Also some other people... But that is probably some help no one would ever want...
I think I'm exited about PHP. I find it very neat! I have learned many things this week about PHP. I have greatly improved my guessing game. It is all in PHP. I have added many things. I even added many difficulty levels. I also added a bonus option. My score system still needs a bit of work. I hope that I can fix it.
[I'm proud of] My guessing game. It was a lot of work. It is the second most advanced guessing game here as Shodor. Soon, I will add a high scores table. I'm also proud of my project. It was a lot of work, but we got it done. I also fixed a very huge bug with it. It was not easy, but I got it done. I'm also proud that I helped Isabelle. Some things that she needed fixed were not that easy, but also not hard.
[What am I hoping to learn more of?] Nothing really. I might want to learn more about MYSQL. MYSQL was used in our project. I found it a bit confusing, but at least I didn't have to handle it. I do hope to learn more PHP. I find it very neat and useful. I want to learn how to make more games with it. I also hope to learn more about NetLogo. I helped present it on Friday. It reminded me that I was still interested in it.
Many people did help me. Gaven was the biggest help. He helped with our project, and my guessing game. We needed a lot of help, and he helped us even though he was in the middle of something. Ismael also helped a bit. He helped me find a PHP beautifier. He also talked me out from making one. It would be a project within itself. I might have given up on it by now. Luke was also of help. He helped me come up with a formula for my guessing game.
I helped many people. I helped to introduce NetLogo to a workshop of Friday. It was fun, and it helped as well. I also managed to help Simon. The closet needed more floor space, and I did that. I made it much more clean, and gave it more room. I also helped my group out as well. I helped fix a bug that came up with our project. It was kinda of a challenge, but I learned more about sessions out of it. I even helped to put something onto our project that Isabelle wanted!
We did not really have classes this week. We were working on our projects all week long. My group made a database that stored questions that people had. I was kinda excited that I wrote most of the PHP. I found it to be fun. I also learned a bit more of Perl! I learned how to do regular expressions. I found it useful, as it helped me improve my Perl prime number checker. I'm quite exited about it, as it says if a number is prime, or composite! I also made one in PHP, but it is not as powerful. I hope that I learn more Perl.
I'm proud of many things. For one, I made most of the PHP for my project. I'm proud because I do not know PHP very well! I think I was able to do so well is because it is quite similar to Perl. I guess that my Perl knowledge came in very handy! I also learned how to make a website using PHP. I also learned about block variables in PHP, and I was able to understand it! I'm also proud of my prime number checker. It is a bit slow, but I think that I might be able to fix it. I'm also happy that I learned a bit of MYSQL. It was not much, but it was some.
I hope to learn many more things. For one, I want to learn more Perl! I find it very easy to use, and it helps me with my PHP. I also think that I should learn more of PHP. Even though it is similar to Perl, it still has differences. I should learn how to make sessions in PHP, as I should know how they work, as I had help making one. I also want to learn more MYSQL I guess. It might come in handy some day. I also hope to learn more about how to make a website using PHP. I also should learn, if it is possible, how to make a website that has some JavaScript in it. I even want to learn more about Perl regular expressions.
I say that I got a lot of help! Gaven was probably the most helpful. He would drop what he was doing, and help me with my PHP. I learned many things because of him. I also got help from Ishmael! He was also able to help with my PHP. He was even able to deal with problems that even Gaven didn't know how to solve. Ernie also helped some. He helped with my debugging process. That was a big help. Joel even was of great help. He was able to answer some questions that I had for him.
I think that I was of great help to Joel. I was helping with the SNAP 2 project. I made the accounts for everyone that had a valid picture. I did run into some in-valid pictures, but Joel will show me how to deal with them later. I guess I also helped out my group. I was able to do my part, and more. I wrote most of the HTML and PHP. It was not easy, but it got done. I also helped Isabelle with her ODAA. I was able to set out drinks for the workshop students. I think that I was a great help!
I would say that I' exited about many things this week. First thing, we are having a movie night! I bet that it is going to be so much fun. I also learned that Luke had a guess game on his website. He said that it was in PHP, so he was able to make a high scores table. I think that I will ask him how he did that. We also installed "Tinker" for our WebMO. We downloaded it onto our virtual machines. I found it to be fun, even though it was tough at some points. I also hear that there is not going to be anymore AMC. Personally, I found it long and hard.
I'm proud of many things. For one, my guessing game is coming along great! I'm able to have it come up with a different number each time the last one was guessed. I also have a guess count added as well. I found this to be hard work, but I'm happy about it. Also, it is in JavaScript. I'm making another one, but it is in PHP. I just started on it, and I already have the random number chooser up and running. I hope to make a high scores table. I'm also proud of my own WebMo. I'm already making complex molecules.
I kinda want to learn system administrator. We are learning a lot of neat stuff in it. I'm also learning how to install something through terminal. I bet that some day, it is going to come in handy. I also hope to learn more about PHP. Even though I think that I'm better at JavaScript, I think that it is more powerful. I hope that I learn how to make a high scores table. I might be able to do it in JavaScript, but I doubt it. I'm kinda of hoping to learn more Java, but at a slower pace. I find it to be kinda hard. I also wish that we could learn Perl.
I would say that Bethany helped me a lot. She helped me to clear up my paper. I would also think that Luke helped me. He helped me to solve a problem I was having with my guessing game. Even though his answer worked, it didn't suite what I needed. I also think that Jonathon helped a lot. He was able to help me with some validation errors. Ernie also helped. I didn't send in an e-mail about wanting to go to the movies. Ernie took care of it for me. I hope that I don't make the same mistake again.
I would say that I helped a bit. For one, I found out why a command didn't work in Terminal. We were installing Tinker for WebMO, and a command to make it was not working. After a while, I found why it didn't work. It turns out that we were not in the right file! I also helped a girl with her website. It was during the open house. She was having problems with margin and padding. I was able to help her, and explain why it had to be that way. I also told her of a better background for her website. I hope to help more!
This week, we learned about Java! I was exited because the last week, I was already exposed to it. Since I had an idea already about Java, I think that it helped me. I was able to understand it better, and I was able to contribute to the class. I'm also, in my free time, learning JavaScript. I was trying to make a random banner chooser in Perl, but I couldn't do it. Simon said that he would have to change my permissions around so I could do it. Jayson said that I should use JavaScript instead, and I'm almost done with it! What it is going to do is choose one of forty banners, and put it on my website. I do, though, want to learn more Java. I find it a neat program even though it really is not reliable.
I'm proud of many things. For one, I was able to make a GUI calculator in Java. It might be a simple calculator, but I made it, and I'm proud of it. I'm also proud of all my banners. I made a total of forty banners for my website. Currently, I am working on a JavaScript that will randomly choose one. I'm also proud of that as well. I was able to make almost all of my JavaScript without any help. It will be done by the end of the day, I hope. I'm putting in a lot of effort into it. I was also able to remake my website. I think that it is the best yet, and Elizabeth came up with the rough design idea for me. She suggest the general idea for my website.
I hope to learn more Java. Even though I had trouble with it, I think that it is a great tool. I was able to make a GUI calculator, and I hear that all of Interactive was written in Java. I think that one day, my code might just be on that website. I also hope to learn more JavaScript. I found it very useful, as I'm able to make a random banner chooser out of it. I did want to do it in Perl, but I didn't have the permissions to do so. So, to make things easier, I'm doing JavaScript. I just seemed to be quite exited about JavaScript. I bet that I will end up putting a lot of JavaScript on my website. I hope to branch out more in it.
I was helped a lot this week, but then again, we were working with Java. Jayson had to be the biggest help of all. He was able to tell me where I went wrong in my coding and gave me tips on how to do some things. I was able to, with his help, come up with the panel setup for my GUI calculator. I would also say that Matt was a very big help. When I had trouble using svn, he was able to help me. He also helped me when I was having some coding issues. He was a very good help when it came to Java as well. I also would think that Elizabeth was a huge help. She gave me an idea for my website design. I think that my website looks better than it used to be.
I'm not sure that I even helped anyone. I did contribute to my class quite a bit though. I was able to answer questions. I think that is the only thing that I did. I also helped my group. I did a lot of the Java for the calculator. I had already had a bunch of the calculator made before the project was assigned. I had some trouble, but I was helped by Jayson a lot. I also helped my other group as well. Were were making a model, and I was able to find some values that no one else was able to find. I also helped to remind them to save early and often, as Vensim crashes more than cars.
All this week, we were learning Unix. We were learning a lot of commands, such as cd and ls. We even learned vi. I don't feel that comfortable with it, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I'm quite glad that I learned Perl, because that knowledge helped me a lot. We also were working with Terminal a lot, and I found that fun. I even learned how to customize my Terminal. I learned how to make it tell time. I'm also learning Java! I hope to be able to make a game out of it some day, and I think that I could do a great job, as I'm quite advanced in Perl. I learned a lot about Unix. I even learned many commands that I find very useful. I'm already able to change the permissions for files.
I'm also proud of my Terminal setup. I have it to tell time, what file I'm currently in, and even how many commands I have put in, total. I even have it colored, but I'm still working on it, but when it is done, it will be great. I'm also proud that I'm learning Java! I hope to make a game out of it. I'll be even more proud when I learn even more Java, and when I can understand how it works. Also, I'm not doing Java Script, but regular Java. I hope to learn more Java. It might be hard, but I think I'll get the hang of it. I also hope that we learn more Unix, but I think I'm more interested in Java. I remember that I was exposed to a bit of Java earlier, and I hated it. Now I think I can understand it. I think that Java is okay right now, but I think I will like it more. I think that it will be great and fun to learn. I do hope, though, that we learn more Unix commands. I found it neat, and easy to do. But I do hope that we learn Perl. I love Perl because I find it easy.
I think that Jason helped me the most. He is teaching me Java right now. He said that he would get a book for me that would help me understand it better. Also, Joel helped me. I had a problem with Unix, and he helped me out. He told me what I was doing wrong, and I think I'll avoid it so it won't happen again. But, Jason still probably helped me the most. I think that he's glad that I want to learn Java. He has helped me a lot so far, and I think he will continue to do so. I look forward to being his student. I don't think that I helped much. I think I might have helped a class mate, but I'm not sure. I wish that I could have helped. I helped out during class though. I answered a lot of questions, and helped to contribute to the class. I wanted to answer every question, because I bet I'm very exited about it. I also helped to answer problems. I do hope to help more. I guess I also helped Jason, as he had to look up stuff that he didn't know for my Java learning. I guess I helped to refresh his mind.
On the first day we learned about basic programing concepts. I found this rather easy to understand because I'm already quite advanced in Perl. On Tuesday, we learned some PHP. I found it rather uncomfortable to use because I just wanted to put in Perl coding. Later, we did some modeling. We used AgentSheets, and we made a basic model of zombie invasion. I was able to make a complex program very easily, because I'm very familiar with AgentSheets. I was able to have the humans die of old age and hunger. I later added a house to spawn humans because if I didn't, they would die out. On Thursday, me and Thomas mostly worked on a NetLogo project. He was a great NetLogo programmer, he was about advanced in it as I am with AgentSheets. I'm exited to present it as I think we both did a great job. I'm also excited that we will never cover XML, as it really confused me. I was proud that I didn't put any Perl codes into PHP. I'm proud of this because I found it hard not to put any Perl codes in it. I also am proud to know that my Perl knowledge did come in handy. We did some array_push and array_pop commands, and I already knew a lot about it. My Perl knowledge didn't come in so handy for a few things though. When started PHP, our first tool was echo. I had no clue what it did, but I was able to find it out by context clues. I also made an infinite loop using PHP.
I was proud because I was able to make it so the screen was filled with just the words "ERROR!" I'm also proud of the NetLogo project Thomas and I worked on. I do hope to learn more about PHP. I think with a bit of work, I could make a Perl to PHP program. If we do learn more about PHP, or any kind of program, I hope I could make a Perl converter with it. I also heard that we were going to learn more programming languages. I'm exited about that because there could be a new tool I will learn, and it could work with Perl. I also hope that the new programming languages are very close to Perl. I would love to be more fluent in another programming language other than Perl. I also hear that we are going to do more modeling. I would love that because I think it's neat, and it could come in useful some time. I do not hope to learn more Vensim.
I would say that I got a lot of help from many people. Elizabeth did help with a lot of things. She did help with the SimpleXML programming, as I do not understand it. Thomas was also a great help. When doing the NetLogo project, I did know a lot of the code, but there were a few things I didn't know. For one thing, I didn't know how to get the turtles how to spawn in an area that can change size. He was a great help because he knew how to do that. There were some other small problems that I didn't know how to fix, but Thomas came through and found out the reason for the error. David was also a great help. With our SimpleXML project, he made the XML file, which looked quite hard to make. I think I helped a few people. While working with Thomas, I was able to find some small errors along the way. There were a few errors that dealt with the order of the commands. We also found a bug where the human population was very high, and kept reproducing. I suggested a population limit. I already knew what to do, but Thomas seemed to know what he was doing. That suggestion helped a lot. I also helped the group out. I did, with the PowerPoint presentation for the NetLogo project, put in quite some information. I think I gave a lot of help with the NetLogo project.
I was the most excited that I learned new codes for Perl programing. I was able to make a simple calculator using Perl. The calculator was able to do a problem with only one input, like 2+2 on only one line. I hope to learn more about Perl. I would say that Sandy helped me the most. He gave the the challenge of making a calculator on Perl that needs only one line of input. I didn't help anyone that much.
Not anything in particular. Today, we used Vensim. I disliked it, and I think this is the only program I do not like. It always kept crashing. I would have to say that Vensim kept crashing more than a car. The program would usual just crash for no reason. I didn't like that because then I had to save every single time I made a change, and that really slowed down my work. I'm proud of the fact that I saved often, because Vensim kept crashing on me. I have not heard anything that I'm too exited about, except for the fact we will no longer use Vensim. I think that Patricia helped me the most with my Vensim and my Perl. I helped Mauricio a bit when he couldn't get his Vensim working.
Today we learned how to make a graph on Excel. I'm very excited about this because I'm trying to make a program on Excel at home, and this knowledge will help me greatly. I think that I'm proud of the fact that now I can update an Excel program at my home so it will work better! I hope to learn more about Excel's formulas, such as creating a random number, and to round numbers down or up. I would have to say that Valerie helped me the most, like when the numbers on Excel were not acting the way they were supposed to. I would say that I helped Peitong with Excel when she needed help putting sliders on.
We did not do much today, we just worked on our presentation skills. I think that I'm proud of the fact that I have improved my presentation skills. I have not heard of anything that I'm exited about to learn. I think that Ernie helped me out the most. Isabel and Pablo also helped. I think that I helped Isabel and Pablo with our presentation skills.
I would say that I was excited to learn more NetLogo. I learned, by myself, how to create a new depiction in NetLogo. I tried to make a chicken, but it turned up looking like a deformed, hunchbacked, ugly duckling. We got new partners today, and we got a bit far in our Agent Sheets project. My new partners are Pablo and Isabelle. I hope to learn more NetLogo, because I'm still having some trouble with it. I also hope to learn more about Pablo and Isabelle, so we can function as a group better. I would say that my group members helped me the most, which were Pablo and Isabelle. I helped my group with the project, but I think I will do the PowerPoint instead. To me, it is rather confusing. The errors in Agent Sheets are many, and to make matters worse, Agent Sheets won't, unlike NetLogo, tell you where you made the error.
I guess I was happy to learn NetLogo. And for once, I was not confused! I hope to get better at NetLogo, but I still prefer Agent Sheets. Agent Sheets, to me, is a better program because it is more simple. I was happy with the fact that I was not confused with NetLogo. The last time I used NetLogo, I was lost, and had no clue what to do. I do hope to learn more about NetLogo, it kind of reminds me of Agent Sheets, but you have more control over it. Also, it tells you if you made an error, unlike Agent Sheets. Agent Sheets will not tell the user if they made an error, or even where it is. I would say that no one helped me, mostly because I was able to use NetLogo and not get confused by it, for once. I would also say that I helped no one, I guess everyone didn't have any trouble with NetLogo today.
A man, from Cisco, came today, and gave us a talk about presentation. We also did some more Agent Sheets, and I learned many new things. I hear that we will learn NetLogo next time. Last time I used NetLogo, I was horrible at it... I hope I do better next time. I learned more about Agent Sheets. I also helped my fellow classmate. I hope to learn more about Agent Sheets. I am rather good at it, but I hope to get better at it. I also hope that I will be able to use NetLogo without getting confused at all, like I usually do with it. I would say, hands down, that Patricia Jacobs helped me a bunch. I had an error with Agent Sheets, she helped me with it. I helped Mauricio today, his Agent Sheets project was not working the way it should. I was able to help get him through the error.
Today we went over Agent Sheets, which I already knew about. It was so much fun, and Ernie made me add on many things to it so that I would not bug him, I guess. I would say that I was proud that I already knew about Agent Sheets. I would also say that I'm very proud of myself because I was able to do that Agent Sheet's homework in only something like thirty minutes! I hope to learn more about AgentSheets because I used it before, and would like to know more about it. I also hope to become an expert at it. I would say that Ada helped me a bit, she told me what to do so I could help our group. I think that she is a wonderful group mate. Ada does her share of the work load. I hope to work with her in the near future! I think that I did not help anyone this week, it was mostly class, so I could not help at all.
I did more CSS, and it was so much less complicated than last time. I also heard that we might use Round Cube instead of Squirrel Mail, and it is, for me, so much easier to use. I think that I am most proud of the fact that I was able to do CSS without being very confused. I might have had a few questions, but they were for very minor things. I also did a bit of Java, it is so picky... I am not looking forward to learning more Java; however, it was very picky. Even a wrongly capitalized letter would not allow Java to work. I would like to learn more about CSS, it is starting to make more sense to me. I would say that Ismael helped me the most. He answered all of my questions to the best of his ability. I also think that we have made a friendship. Matt also helped me a bit as well. I would say that I helped Matt out a bit. I helped him when his website would not be validated, and I helped solve the problem so that it could be validated.
I had tons of fun learning CSS. It would have been boring, but Monty made it lots of fun to learn. We did go over the basics of html a little bit, but it was still fun. Before today, CSS was like Greek to me, but then, like magic, it all made sense. I was so happy and proud of myself, I hope to learn more. I also learned something I needed for Inkscape, which was very helpful. I hope to learn more about CSS. It was lots of fun. I even hope to learn more about how to make a good logo and all other things like it, right now I need help. I hope to cover a bit more HTML some more. I would say Monty helped me the most. He helped me learn CSS, I also need to thank Ernie because he showed me something I needed to know in Inkscape. I would say that I was unable to help anyone today. I think, at the most, I helped to answer some questions. I hope to be more helpful next week.
Today I learned more about Gimpshop and Inkscape, and had a great time learning it. I would like to learn more about it, but the lessons need to move on. I hope that we learn more stuff like Gimpshop and Inkscape. I think I'm most proud of the fact that I now know how to use Inkscape and Gimpshop better. Now I can make better pictures and whatnot. I hope that I will get better over time. I'm hoping to learn more about Gimpshop and Inkscape, but I know that this can't happen. We need to move on to other stuff, I'm kinda disappointed, but maybe I will find something that I like more. I would say that Ernie helped me the most. I have a few problems when I was using Gimpshop and Inkscape, and he helped me out a lot. I would say that I did not help at all, everyone was doing their work and had no questions. I wish that I could have helped anyway.
I had no classes today, just extra hours. I did a total of three web page prototypes and I am very proud of them. I had to draw them out on paper first, or course. I learned more about Inkscape and Gimpshop by just using them, even though I used Inkscape the most today. I guess I would like to learn more about Inkscape and Gimpshop. I was helped by Simon today, he gave me an idea what my web page prototypes should look like. I would hope that he gets better, he lost his voice today. I helped Precious a lot, she asked me very many questions, more than I wished or hoped. But I'm glad she asked questions, a part of me anyway, because I would like everyone here to do their best.
I am excited about Inkscape and Gimpshop. I found it very neat, and I learned some neat tools, like the stamp in Gimpshop. I do hope that the assignments I need to do will be good. I'm happy about the fact that I learned Gimpshop and Inkscape without any problems. I also made some very good points during class.I do hope that my good work will continue. I hope to learn more about Gimpshop. I think that it could be useful later in my life, and it is something very neat to learn. I would say that all of my teachers helped me today. I think Ernie helped me the most. I guess I helped the entire class, I made the suggestion to open Gimpshop while we were on break, so it would have time to load.
I was rather interested in HTML. I found it rather neat, and I'm looking forward to learning more. I hope that I can come again next Saturday. I also hope that I will be great friends with all of my mentors. I made my own web however, it is not one that someone would like to go to on a regular basis. I helped a bit with the HTML, and learned it. I also think that I got to a wonderful start for the first class. I also think that I am good friends with Ernie. I hope to learn more about HTML. I also would like to learn a bit more about my peers. I also hope that we will get into Agent Sheets. But I just can't wait for everything, Shodor is more fun rather than work, and I'm glad to be here! Well, the only thing that I can think of is that Ernie helped me the most. He helped me when my computer was acting up. He even helped me, and everyone else, to learn a bit of HTML. I hope that we will learn more of it. All I did was show a typo that Ernie made. I also helped Philip a bit, but other than that, I did not help at all.
This e-mail, as you requested, is about my experience in math and science. I am currently taking geometry and biology. I am rather good at math, and even my teacher said that I am ahead of my math class. I also took earth science last year in the 9th grade. I also took algebra last year. I also am very into anything that involves math and or science.
It has been awhile, but I still remember what I have learned. I learned how to use program, TextWrangler. I learned many new, and old, things, I hope to become very good at it. But I just hope I can remember everything. I even learned some very helpful stuff that will help me with TextWangler.
