We learned more about Parallel computers this week along with supercomputers one of them being Bluewaters. We essentially connected all desktops in Shodor to form a mini supercomputer doing parallel computations. I am hoping to learn more about programming GPUs which Aaron briefly talked about an activity we would engage in if we were to become interns. Aaron helped in explaining having the power of multiple computers in parallel versus having the power of one supercomputer. I helped Hamza with answering questions to activities in his Parallel Computing Notebook. >

Today we started working on a new modeling project in which we would manage the project. We started by choosing or creating our own story to convey, based on which we would model the story numerical elements especially the agent behavior with each interactions. The next thing we did after was the HLD document outlining various aspects needed to be incorporated into the project. We had to break dow the project into small elements, and describe the modeling story. >

Today we finished working on the HLD basically make an edits to our work for our new modeling project so that it would be compatible Vensim, AgentCubes, Excel, and JavaScript. In addition to that, we looked at other people's HLD's and edited them which also helped to improve our very own own HLDs. We also began looking into ways to improve our website especially looking into things like jQuery and Bootstrap themes. >

Today we started out by putting the finishing touches to our HLD by looking over the edits Ernie made to them then implementing his suggestions and requests. I then proceeded to attach a link to my HLD on my Portfolio. After that was completed we looked at a video on how to make website more responsive as a whole, along with making them responsive on handheld devices as well. From this video, we had to code in CSS to ultimately make the page more responsive. Additionally, Shawn and I recently exchanged HLDs and learned we were to make each others model based on the story told in the HLD. In addition to that, I had been assigned to ODAA duties. >

This week I successfully learned to use Gimp and Inkscape. I was taught the usage of these tools by Shodor tutorials by recreating a variety of logos from other companies. In addition to that, I learned more about modeling fashion trends conveyed in the world which was implemented into my HLD. I also learned how to use libraries for my website and how to make my website more responsive. Of all the things I did this week I am most proud of my work in Inkscape and gimp. This is so because I created my very own logo using Inkscape that quite frankly is awsome! I am also proud that I worked to make my website more responsive and compatible. I am also proud of the effort and time I took into finish these project to a high standard. I am hoping to learn more about using a variety of libraries for our websites. I intend to use Bootstrap to have a coherent flow to my website. I also hope to use Jquery and Parallex to make my website more interactive. In addition to that, I hope to learn about our PHP projects. Ojas really helped me in learning how to to use Inkscape, and what libraries help in web design. Hamza helped me in creating my logo by offering suggestions on how to make it look polished. Ernie also was helpful in editing my HLD for our new modeling project. Travis also helped me by fixing Inkscape, so it would open on our desktops. >

Over the course of this I week I have been focused on learning PHP. Specifically how to use various functions like $_GET, $_REQUEST, $_POST, Forms, and Cookies. I also learned how to create tables in php as well as how they function. In addition to that I learned a variety of other functions such as var dump, isset, and echo to name a few. That week I was most proud of finishing the Calendar project. I found this to be the most complex of the PHP projects since each row and column is similar in logic to a graph when making the tables in PHP. It also required the use of functions to create one month. I was also proud of completing all the PHP projects in a timely manner. I am hoping to learn more about the upcoming SQL project which requires us to use both SQL and PHP. I am also hoping to learn more about libraries I can use to improve my website. A few examples of these libraries would be Bootstrap and AngularJS. I am also looking forward to finish as much as I can next week as it will be my last week as an Apprentice at Shodor. I tried my best to learn PHP by myself so in those instances I used Google. From time to time, I asked for help from the interns. They helped in certain PHP projects by explaining the logic behind the project/code and how I could translate it into PHP. I also found w3schools to be helpful when doing my php projects. For the most part I was trying to learn and do PHP for myself. So I rarely helped anyone else. However, I did help Israfil on his PHP projects. I mainly received help online rather than helping others. >
