Ron's Ethics Essay
There are multiple ways to help everyone come from behind and get their projects done on time while still keeping in mind business ethics. One thing I would do is to try to adjust to everyone’s needs. For example, Troy is working other jobs because he needs the money, but his work at RED is slowing down a bit. To help him get his work done faster, I would try to give him a bonus, as well as Susan, Andy, and Shanetta. Another thing I could do is borrow some of Patricia’s workers for a while, because she is ahead, after all. With these strategies, I am sure my part of RED will get the job done.
I would have to come up with plans to fit everyone’s needs. With Troy, for instance, I would push for the team to get a bonus if they complete the project on time. It would not hurt the budget much, because Bob would have to give up a few thousand dollars, but compared to nineteen million, I do not think he would mind. If Troy was paid more, he wouldn’t have to worry about extra jobs, and therefore, his production at RED would increase. A bonus would also motivate everyone else to get the project done quicker. Also, for Shanetta, I would just let her work on ideas from home because she is just the marketing person. She may benefit from working on her own schedule.
Since my team and I are all friends, I would arrange maybe a dinner or lunch. That way we could get together outside of the office, and discuss our situation. I could take suggestions because the others may have good ideas. Also, I could set up daily meetings at the end of every day to monitor progress. That would give a healthy amount of pressure to always get something done every day, which would give Andy more time with his legal issues and Susan more time with her family.
Another thing I would do is ask Patricia if I could borrow some of her workers. Patricia is ahead of schedule, so she has extra time in which her team can help my team out. She could send extra or unneeded workers to help us speed the process up. However, if Patricia declines, and I had the authority, I would hire new workers. I would have to take a day from production to introduce everyone and get them caught up, but depending on how many new workers show up, production may increase exponentially and ahead of time. More workers is definitely an alternative to look into.
These are the main strategies I would use to get my team back on track. I would present my boss, Bob, with them and if they’re accepted, I would put them into action. That is how I would solve this problem, with good business ethics.
