• Takes time to process

• Slows down the initial display of the document

• The tag is an HTML extension first implements in NCSA Mosaic

  • Understood by most other World Wide Web browsers

• By default the bottom of an image is aligned with the text

• Could include the align=top parameter

  • 

• Typical Format types:

  • GIF: graphical interface format
  • JPG: JPEG format
