Who uses computational science?

ASL

The local news program uses weather models to predict tomorrow's weather. These models are made by computational scientists to better understand the atmospheric processes that create weather.

ASL

Scientists in Homeland Security use computational science to study how anthrax bacteria spread through an office. They also study how smallpox would spread if it were introduced into a community. They use models to experiment with different vaccination strategies.

ASL

Geologists use computational science to study the forces that cause earth quakes and volcanoes.

ASL

Biologists studying the human genome use computational science to study the interaction of proteins that our genes produce.

ASL

Astronomers use computer models to explore how galaxies collide and interact.

ASL

Environmentalists use computer models to predict the effect of global warming on plant diversity and competition.

ASL

Anyone who wants to study events that are too dangerous, too expensive, too far away, or take too long to do in a lab, uses computer models.
