Review Bitmap vs. Vector
Can anyone REMIND me what the difference between these two formats is?
-
Bitmap - images that are a collection of bits that form an image - otherwise known as pixels.
-
Vector - images that are completely described using mathematical definitions.
So Inkscape Is what?
So GIMP Is what?
-
a
RASTER-BASED or BITMAP program
EXAMPLE:
Explain to them that once pictures are are enlarged to much, they look unnatural and blocky, (zoom
in on butterfly) that reducing a picture too much can cause the image to lose its sharpness.
-
(scale down the butterfly image and then scale back up - show the loss in quality)
-
Have the students open a browser and type in: www.shodor.org/
~caviles/gimp/
-
They should select the link
"Download activityImages" folder and download it.
