Iteration Spreadsheet

Objective: This section is designed to have students step through a simpler example of the iteration that takes place in Julia Sets. If students understand the simple example then they can move on the the full example with two variables.

Materials: Each student will need

• Internet access to the Example Excel Spreadsheet
• Internet access to the Two Variable Function Pump Activity

Explorations questions for students:

1. Try putting in different values into the second row of the spreadsheet to see if they will be prisoners or escapees.


2. How is squaring an ordered pair different from just squaring one number? Hint: Check the learner page of the activity.
