Using mIRC for Windows
Version 6.0x
-
After you have downloaded mIRC from http://download.cnet.com, extract the program from it's zipped form using Winzip or some other extraction program.
-
Run the file mIRC.exe and the program should open.
-
A dialogue box will appear that says "mIRC Options" at the top of the window. If it does not, click on File>Options.
- There are some textboxes to fill in for Full Name, Email address, Nickname, and Alternative. Of these, Nickname is the most important, while Full Name and Email Address are helpful if you wish to supply this additional information. You may want to uncheck Invisible mode.
- Under IRC Network, select All.
- To the next of the Network drop-down boxes, click on Add.
- For the Description, you can enter in "Shodor." For the IRC Server, enter scan.shodor.org. For the port, the default value of 6667 should not be changed. No other information is needed. Click on Add to close the dialog box.
- There are two ways to connect to the Shodor server.
- While in the options window, immediately after the next step, you can click on Connect to IRC Server.
- Click on OK to close the Options window. Click on the Connect button on the toolbar. It looks like a lightning bolt icon.
- Once you are connected to the Shodor server, type /join #succeed or whatever other chat room you have been supplied with. You are now connected to the Shodor IRC server.
