Objective: Students use trial-and-error testing and careful observation to build a hypothesis on the principles behind structural balance.

Materials: Each student will need

40-60 standard LEGO bricks Dimensions: 1x1, 2x1, 3x1, 4x1, 6x1 2-3 sheets of graph paper (5 mm x 6 mm squares) Page of simple structure graphs (optional) Page of complex structure graphs (optional) Pen or Pencil Tabletop or other flat,level surface Web browser connection to the Cross-Section Applet
