Final Project

Description :

Welcome to the final project of Modeling Your World. This is the final experiment the students will participate in for the workshop. For the final project, students will be designing and creating their own Stella Model. Make sure you have asked students the day before to think about possible models they would like to implement. This last day in the workshop should be broken into 2 parts, the first being the creation of the students model. The second part of the day should be set aside for students to present their model to the rest of the class. For this final assignment, students should be paired off or in a group of no more than three.

Guided Help :

The most important thing to beginning the final day is to make sure each group has an idea for their Stella model. This way students do not sit around and have idle time. Once the students have been squared away with their idea, you will want to get them started. This will best be done by you and whomever else walking around and making sure they are not hitting any walls. You do not want to build their model for them, but it is important to keep an eye on the clock and help them meet their deadline. If need be, students could have a little bit of extra time in the second half of the day to complete their models.

Presentations :

Now it is time for the students to show off their work. Have groups pick a small square with a number on it from a hat/box. This will help to determine the order in which students will present to the class. Make sure the presentations are interactive, and just not the presentors talking. Encourage other classmates to ask questions to the presentors. If you want and have time, present a creative model you have constructed on your own.
