It has corrosive properties and acts as an oxidant. It is commonly used in cleaning solutions. Water is a necessary nutrient, but is not one of the lettered vitamins, nor is it listed in nutritional information for most products, even products where it is the first ingredient. Water is the most powerful known agent against dehydration. Water can also be deadly. Respiration of liquid form can cause death; gaseous form can cause severe burns.
