The primary goals of this camp are to: (1) inspire students with enthusiasm for the sciences and the natural environment; (2) interest students to pursue careers in research or other science related fields; (3) expand students competence in science. The camp will have two, three-week sessions, with one week between sessions for evaluation and adjustments. Sixty students will participate each year, with six instructors and one camp director for a ratio of students to instructors at 5 to 1. The camp curriculum will contain many hands-on activities in the outdoor classroom, field trips to expose students to careers in the sciences, laboratory investigations, team-building activities to strengthen self-confidence, and environmental science projects teaching students to communicate with scientists and other professionals in the field.
