For Rising Junior and Senior Science Students (High School):
Join NC State University Faculty in the Department of Wood and Paper Science in an exciting 4-day experience developing usable products from plant waste and waste paper from your own home or community. You will learn methods of producing fiber, discover applications of chemistry and chemical engineering, explore careers in science, and interact with scientists to solve real world problems.

- Meals and campus housing are provided.
- You will receive a laboratory kit to take with you.
- You will participate in out-of-class recreational activities.
- You will receive career guidance: how to pick a college, how to know if a
science-related career is good for you, how to find scholarships.
- You will make group presentations of your work, using presentation software
and post your presentations on the project web-site.
- You will learn to develop products from natural, renewable resources.
- You will prepare a presentation/experiment to use with middle school students
when you return home.
Submit your application, and have your teacher submit your recommendation form online. Also be sure to mail your high school transcript with grades through December, 2002 to:
